If you go the theinductionsite.com you can get the specs on every induction cooktop available in the US. As far as I know, the only 30" cooktops available here (without having to import and UL approved) with timers that turn off the burners are:
Miele
Fagor
Bosch

The Bosch has the same configuration as the Kitchenaid. The Miele is similar but the big burner is in the front instead of the back and the Fagor has a diamond pattern.

The 36" Thermador does so I assume the 30" does as well. By the way, Bosch and Thermador are the same company.

Be warned, though, that theinductionsite.com doesn't include any "hybrid" units. So, you won't find the specs for *every* induction unit.

Cheri127 - The Fagor IFA-80 AL (30" unit) doesn't have a timer in the sense of pre-setting a burner for a duration. If you remove a pot/pan and don't turn off the burner it will turn off after 60 seconds (unless you return a vessel).

Thanks, dbaguy. I thought Fagor had timers.

I have been looking into this as well but can go to 36 if needed. According to the meile owners manual it has one timer only, not one per hob.

Check the page 26 and 27 on timers. Each element can be turned off with a separete timer.

The Thermador 365DS user manual says that the timer is independent of any other settings". I.e., doesn't control cooking elements. Is there a different Thermador that turns elements off with a timer?

(We're planning to get a Miele KM5773, which has 5 separate timers that control elements, though I'm still disappointed that the Canadian/European design of the KM5773 isn't available in the US.)
