We just bought an older house and in desperate need of design/decor ideas. We want to decorate and paint but not sure what direction to take (i.e. paint color/accent walls, area rugs, decor, etc). We like a modern/contemporary look, but not sure how to accomplish that since the house is older.

In the works:
- The back wall has a big picture window and sliding door that leads out to a cool semi-covered patio and beautiful/peaceful back wooded area. We're knocking down the whole wall and installing stacking doors. Since this will be the highlight of the house we're thinking of making this an accent wall to draw attention to it. Thinking of a bold indigo blue, but not sure.
- Thinking about swapping the dining and family rooms so that we can use the existing dining room as sorta like a lounge/entertaining area since its closest to the outside covered patio.

I would appreciate ANY feedback!

NOTE: the furniture is not ours (it's the sellers furniture). They left us with the off-white leather couch, which will go into the new lounge area. We have more contemporary furniture: light grayish microfiber L-shaped couch, black low profile entertainment center.
