I'd go for reimbursement on the food and a healthy discount off whichever brand you decide to buy :-)

I don't know that particular field, but asking for a consulting fee of $50 an hour would not be unreasonable. Have you done this before?

Depends on what they are supplying and what you are. Some of the food will need to be made ahead of time so it's just not the time spent there they should be paying for. What about the time going grocery shopping all of that should be thought. Also what is the goal of the demonstations- to build interest in the items or to build traffic. Get a good understanding of what they want you to do.

Some stores actually hire chef's to do this.

Here is a tip, when you make cookies put them in another oven to cool, you would be surprised how many people grab hot items

You might also want to confirm who will be doing the cleanup work or will you also be demonstrating the dishwashers?

Hey - that sounds like fun!! It's work though. I've been to an appliance store demo and it is wild and crazy. It was amazing to see the caterers in action! I watched set up, and throughout the day because I was trying to decide on my appliances. If they have enough confidence in you to ask you, I would do it. Do you have a friend that could help you? The caterers where I was, ended up having to clean up too - dishwashers aside. There was a lot that didn't go to a dishwasher. Be sure to get the discounts!!
