Need to replace 27' Drop in Range

What to do? What to do? The big problem is that we have had to shelve the major kitchen addition and remodel. BUT the range has died. So I need to replace it. The simple answer is to use the GE drop 27" that is still made. But where the old white drop in was kind of suble and blended in. The new model is all very big and rounded and does not at all fit in with my painted green cabinets and stainless dishwasher and refrigerator (that we had to replace this year).

So, I have looked at putting in a 30" stainless slide in. There are two models that would work from GE. One is coil and I like the overall asethetic better and the other is smooth top. Which I have NEVER had any interest in. What are the plus and minus of each?

What I would prefer to do is gas. But we do not have it in the house. The 30" would be too close (for code and probably safety) to the side wall and this is not something we budgeted for right now and I don't really have the money to spend.

Plus, we might have to sell the house in a year. Or we might live here (and with this stove that we chose) for the next 10-15 years. Or we might get turned around and have the budget to do the actual kichen remodel/addition that we had planned.

So, since I don't know who/what I am buying for it is very hard to make a decision.

Any opinions.
