We unfortunately won't see a single trick-or-treater, so no costumes here. We do however have snow on the ground this morning!

Happy Halloween! Our internet and phone service are back intermittently, my annual witch costume is ready, sacks of candy are waiting, large pumpkins are ready to be carved, but Trick or Treating has been officially postponed (by the city) to this coming Sunday because of continuing rainy, windy weather. We get hundreds and hundreds of trick or treaters every year (so many that I just sit outside on our front porch in my witch costume with the bowl of candy, rather than opening and closing the door, as the stream of little kids is continuous). The neighborhood is very safe and the houses close together, so people bring their kids to our neighborhood from all around the area.

I'm very excited to see all the kiddies in their costumes! My costume is a kindly, sweet funny clown, Raul's costume is an evil clown and he plans to scare as many kids as possible. Last year we went thru 6 huge bags of candy in 90 minutes! We ended up having to turn out all the lights after we ran out, but this year we bought 11 huge bags! I cannot wait!

feeny, seeing's how I'm a witch the other 364 days I decided to be funny this year!

We're like michigammemom and no trick or treaters. We'll leave the dog to guard the farm and go watch the grandbaby trick or treat.

I should add, we BOUGHT 11 huge bags of candy, but I doubt there's that many left! Of course we give out all the non-chocolate candy first, just in case there's any left over......

Hi all, regarding being bored, the list I put up yesterday was an IDEA list. Pick one or two. You don't have to do the whole thing!! ( List from the FlyLady.net site)

Usually when I am bored, it is because I need a little bit of novelty. Something completely different for a little while. Bobbi, I thought you could take a taxi and go get a mani/pedi or something for an activity you might not usually do. I myself like to go to an art gallery when I need some novelty in my day.

And yes, Bobbi, I do have days when I am bored and have no "oomph" to get up and do anything. I use the free FlyLady.net site to help me get back to a daily routine.
(FlyLady Marla C. used to teach fly fishing. That is how she got that name. Look on the FlyLady site for definitions and descriptions of terms she uses.) Here is what she wrote:

I was asked by a member what was she supposed to do when she has lost her "Get Up and Go"? She was FLYing along very nicely and then woke up this morning with no enthusiasm. She did not want to do her routines. She did not want to do a mission or do a zone cleaning.

We all have days like this and there are times when these days seem to start coming closer and closer together!

The one thing that will put you back on track is to get dressed to shoes. This is a must, otherwise you are just going to crawl back into bed and pull the covers over your head. Once you
kind of push yourself to get dressed, you will start to feel a
little better. Then set your timer and grab a trash bag for a 27
fling boogie. This may seem silly but as you are walking through
your house, tossing the junk mail, the old soda can that someone left out, an old magazine etc, you will start to feel that release of clutter that seems to really motivate us.

If you are still feeling un-enthusiastic, strike a bargain with
yourself; if I finish my mission then I get to take a 15 minute
break and put my feet up, if I finish my zone then I get to have a
little snack, if I do a hot spot fire drill I get to read a book for
15 minutes. If I do just one thing that I have been procrastinating
about, I get to treat myself to a guilty pleasure! Set those timers
and reward yourself to help you shake off the unwanted lack of
    enthusiasm.

These feelings do come on occasionally and they are normal and to be expected. How you handle them is what will make a difference in your life. It is okay to succumb and take a break every now and again but when these feelings start to happen closer and closer together, we have to take that extra-babystep to keep FLYing!

Remember we are taking BabySteps and we are not beating ourselves up....we are Finally Loving Ourselves!!! (FLYing!!!)
    *********************************************************************
I hope this list is more helpful to you.

I got a little energy yesterday and thought I would wash the car. It was sunny and 75 out. I got the back left quarter and two doors done, and then was tired. I pushed and finished. It only takes me about 20 minutes to wash the car - out back in the pea gravel area so the tree roots can benefit from the water.

Today, I am pretty stiff and achy. Such is life.

Tipi, loved your remedy for boredom list. One of my favorite things to do is pull out old photo albums. I am also a vacuuming queen. There is just something satisfying about it...ironing however is the bane of my existence:)
Yes, old photos can remind us of good memories. I went through all of mine at a crossroad in my life. I threw out any that showed anyone in a less than flattering way, any that did not bring a happy memory, and any that had an image of someone I did not know. For ones of great aunts, or grandparents I never met, I made xeroxes and sent them to my Dad with questions by each photo. Now that he has died, it is fun to read his comments about his grandmother, his duck hunting trip with his father (including the type of gun and the prizes - hams or a pound of bacon!). Seeing his handwriting is also such a nice memory. I also found one single snapshot of my mother with a genuine smile (not "smile for the camera"). I had it framed.
I ended up putting more than half of my total photos in the recycling bin. The ones I have now I know will bring me happiness.

tipi, such a good suggestion. There's always that guilt of trashing photos, but the way you narrowed it down makes so much sense.

Thank you for the compliment, creeser. :)

OK ladies, everyone have a safe and crazy Halloween! About 90 minutes til the Lollipop Guild graces our doorway, so I need to get "dressed", and hopefully we'll all talk tomorrow! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Michigammemom I will trade you vacuuming for ironing. I iron for seven so what's one more!
