electrolux range

Anyone own an Electrolux slide in gas range?

I'm concerned about:

location of knobs in relation to electronic panel

rubber gasket lining the electronic panel

service issues, I'm on Long Island, New York

With this much heat from the gas burners, does one need a range hood?

Why I'm concerned:

the location of the knobs and oven electronics sitting level (almost) with the range top cooking grates.

Seems to me that any spills will wind up on the electronic panel.

The rubber gasket lining the glass electric panel - the one I saw in the appliance store was not sealed properly.

I have a microwave above my existing dead oven. The range top works, but the electronics are shot on the oven. Present kitchen appliances are white and am limited on choices, considering electrolux which is available in white.

Read each and every post on American Range 1 -4. Good info, don't have time to wait for their service (typical New Yorker)which seems imminent.

Any help is appreciated.

I have this range and the electronic panel being so even with the burners was a consideration. I've been using it for about 2 months now and it doesn't appear to be an issue and I'm the queen of boil over pasta pots...

We got the Electrolux microhood and the fan in it seems to take care of the heat from the range. Really am enjoying the oven with those smooth easy glide racks and lights that come on when you open it - very bright.

Thanks socalusa, appreciated the information. I've been checking a merriment of review boards for negatives. I found a few, but they did not address my concerns. http://consumeraffairs.com

As for being Queen of the boil over, you are in good company. My kids knew it was time for dinner when the smoke alarm sounded. Thankfully that was a lifetime ago. One of them is currently a corporate chef. Go figure!

Do you find you accidentally touch the control panel when using the stove top? Does that cause any problems?

So maybe the smoke alarm triggered something wonderful in your children - they associated it with a great dinner! lol

I trigger the panel when I'm showing it to someone who hasn't seen anything like it and once in a while inadvertantly. Occasionally it says hello to me when I'm using the range, but it's kind of amusing to me actually, and very brief.

It was a bit of leap of faith for me to commit to buying it because, like you said, there was not a lot of feedback on it. I compared appliances for months and I'd go back and forth between the Electrolux and other ranges and just could not shake the feeling that this range was beautiful, ergonomic and the others did not live up to the smooth and solid "feel" it has. Of course that has nothing whatsoever to do with the function of a range, more form - but unfortunately they don't let you bake a pie in the showroom to test drive them. ;-)

(The gasket was one thing I wondered about, but so far (and I have been using it for only a few months) it's not a problem and seems not to be an issue as far as cleaning up.)
