Downdraft choice

I have been lurking here for many months and thanks to this forum I have made most of the appliance choices for our kitchen remodel-last done 26 years ago. At that time I probably spent a couple or hours picking out everything. There were far fewer choices and there was no internet to do research.

My final decision is the downdraft. We will be installing the De Dietrich 309 in a large island and need to use a downdraft-I know not considered the most efficient but that is what is required in this installation. I checked with Audrey at Salon Blue Ridge for a recommendation and, while they don't carry them, she said that most of their De Dietrich customers chose a Thermador downdraft. Great, until I read all the negative postings about Thermador. Considering other brands and know I want an external or maybe on online blower but don't know how many CFMs are needed, is 500 enough, is 1000 or more overkill? It will be vented a fairly long distance-about 30'. That can't be changed either. The current Jenn-Air is vented that way also and has done a fair job over the years. If you have a downdraft what brand and CMF would you recommend?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Linda
