washer

I am wondering if anyone can tell me your experiences with the Maytag brand of appliances. There is a real reason why I'm asking and I am just curious what anyone's opinions are on the brand. thanks in advance. BT

The thing is, Maytag appliances bought today may be different from 6+ years ago.ÃÂ Topload washers in particular are much changed.

We bought a Maytag high efficiency top-load washer in May and have been very happy with it. It's as efficient as a front loader, uses very little detergent and has so many different wash, soil, and spin settings. We love it so far!

For the most part "Maytag" does not really exist anymore.
They have been Whirlpool since about 2007.
My Old Maytag washer that I had for 7 years and just sold last week was a good washer, never had a bit of problem with it.

But you may as well ask about Whirlpool appliances at this point because that is who makes them now.

Nunyabiz1's Neptune TL was the last "new" washer design that Maytag developed. They were produced for 2, maybe 3 years at most. The one I have was bought new in May of 2008 (online closeout/special from a retailer in NJ) but the serial number indicates manufacture December 2005. The factory service manual I have is dated December 2003.

I bought a new toploading Maytag washer and dryer in January of this year. It was my 3rd set of Maytags so I was very sure it would be the very last set I would have to buy because I am not exactly a youngster. I bought the Maytag because the other sets I had never EVER cost me a dime in repairs so I felt very secure in buying the new set. Now with this washer there is a LOT of problems with it and I cannot use it. More than a few things wrong with it. I am waiting to hear from the company just what they intend to do about this problem. They will be letting me know after they read the report from the repair man that checked it out. That will be 7 to 10 working days! However, they said it would have to be fixed and not replaced!! What a surprise I got today when my Grandson stopped, told me they bought a Whirlpool washer in August and it, also, has ONE of the same problems my Maytag has. They both get exceedingly loud, in fact from the very beginning I had to close the door to the laundry room because I couldn't stand the noise of the spin. I did think it was normal because the man that installed it told me it would make noise that I would not be used to. As I said, I am anxious to see how the company handles this problem. In all fairness, I really like the way the washer works but I will let you know the outcome of this most disappointing situation. BT

BT----did you buy Maytag Bravos? That is what we are considering, but now I may look at other brands.

joanie I wanted to be sure I knew which ones they are so I double checked and yes they are the Bravos. I am so disappointed because as I said I thought I was situated for the rest of my life. Now I don't know if replacing the parts just means I still have a second rate washer.

Still waiting to hear what is what with the washer. They picked it up last Wednesday, said they hoped they could get it back this week!! In the meantime let me tell you I am letting laundry pile up so I will give it a real test. I am not going to drive 35 miles to my daughter-in-law to do laundry like I did last week. Shouldn't have to.... there is a Maytag Bravo sitting somewhere.....

Well, still do not have my washer back. Talked to the repair man last Wednesday, and he said it would be done in about a week. I am going to contact the Iowa attorney general and also going to go to BBB and Consumers report.

And don't forget your congressman and senator.

Look, you're hosed. Do wait for repaired item. Live with it until it breaks again....which it will....and be prepared to buy something else.

You're dancing with "the system". If you can't afford to do otherwise, then take what comes. If you have the financial ability to leap-frog this trouble, do that.
