I owned two MIU France electric peppermills. They take four AA batteries, if I recall, so they're not cheap to run. I used one for good black pepper and one for good white. There are quite a few complaints on Amazon that they don't have a fine grind, no matter what setting you use. That seemed to be true for me, too, but I never use fine so I liked it.

They were perfect for my arthritis. However, they cost around $35 to buy, and the battery thing annoyed me. It was also as difficult to refill as any other peppermill.

I switched to the Unicorn Magnum Plus, top-rated by Cook's Illustrated, and never turned back. It's so easy to fill, and still I can operate it easily even when my hand pain acts up. It turns out more pepper per twist than any other manual I've ever used. Really, I could be a spokesman for them! However, it's about ten dollars more than the MIU. In my opinion, it lasts longer, so that might ease your decision.

It all depends on what you need the electric ones for. If your hands are very bad, I'd try the MIU.

DH has arthritis in thumb joint and looooooooves coarsely ground pepper. Thanks for responding. I had been eying the Magnum, but had rejected it because it was not battery operated.

When something necessary and quite useful can't be found, it is usually because no one can make any real money from it at mass production costs versus very small up market demand being the only demand.

Running a pepper mill at max drill speed or perhaps a lot less is not so good for the overheated unused pepper.
Many versions to work with besides the "feeding the BBQ mob" monsters shown here.
Even smaller pistol grip electric type screwdrivers could do a good job in light service.
