New Vent System

I saw a new vent system, they call it a vent shelf. You can place a microwave on it, it has an outlet on the shelf, below the shelf is baffle filters and they claim a 600 cfm blower that can be vented or ventless. It comes in 24", 30" 36" and 48". It is made by Prestige Hood Company. The dealer had it hooked up live and I was quite impressed. The dealer told me that Marcus Samuelsson the Chef from Aquavit in NYC has one and showed me a picture of it in his apartment over a pro range.

Here's a picture and tech link.

If I'm understanding the technical drawing correctly, all of the air passes through a 1" deep channel that runs the width of the hood, then through a 3 1/2" x 10" discharge (two such discharges for the 36" and 38" hoods) in order to vent to the outside. I don't see a CFM rating. How much air can this thing possibly move?

It says 600 or 1200 CFM. Doesn't say weather that's an internal blower or extenal. I can't see how they could fit a 1200 cfm motor in the allotted space or that it would push/pull that much air thru that opening. I have not done the calculations so it might be possible but I'm very skeptical. Mabey Mindstorm sees this and can quickly do the math.
