Wow that is so pretty. I would like to try making a bracelet but do you need to buy a lot of materials to do so? Are the bracelets hard to make? They sell so many pretty beads at Michaels crafts but I'm afraid I'll buy all the beads and then realize I need a lot of materials and not know how to make one.

Thanks everyone! tomuchglass you made me laugh! maybe we were sisters in a former life, except you must have gotton most of the brain cells because I dont have much left.it doesnt have to cost alot, I got the large beads at big lots, 3 for .50 the clasps were .50 for 4,I have a lg amount of old custom jewerly my dmil gave me awhile back, you can take them apart and reuse, I got stright pins and used to make the ones that dangle on the clasp, as you know I am a crafter frist and if I can find a way to do things cheap I will,I will never be a professional like Ginger! just a simple crafter.I plan on keeping my eye out at the feamarket for beads and things to use.

Oddie, everything you make is so pretty. I live in the southern part of MO that got that major ice storm over the weekend. Thankfully, I am one of the lucky ones that has not lost electricity. I got all my beads and jewelery making materials out and have made several bracelets to entertain myself. It is addictive, I go to Michaels and drool over all the beads. I go to antique stores and yard sales and buy old jewelry to take apart and reuse the parts. I scour the internet looking for inspiration. Thanks for posting your pictures, I love your style.

Delaniemae, thank you! would love to see photos of your jewerly, been reading about the crazy weather everywhere and your ice strom, I sure feel for everyone! I live in southren ohio and a few years ago we had a bad ice strom, I live in a valley and trees feel everywhere around us and two on our home, you could hear them crack and held your breath till ,you knew where it was falling, everyone was in the same shape around you, major roads had fallen trees to the point that it looked like you were way back in the woods, people with chainsaws cut holes out enough for a car to pass throu, being without electric for over a week some places two, was the easy part! There were alot of good people from other states that came to our rescue,GOD BLESS THEM ALL! I was told we even made CNN! so maybe you read about us, sorry I got carried away. please show us your photo's!

zshopper, sorry I missed your post,we need to get Ginger to give a lesson on jewerly makeing, shes the professional one and will teach you the right way to do things, she is a very kind and patient teacher, WHAT DO YOU SAY GINGER? will you give us a lesson on jewerly makeing ?while we are waiting to hear from Ginger, take a look at my other post and photos Ginger explanes alot in them and for some real inspiration check out her jewerly, she left a link to her bracelet on one post and has 120 photos on her site, I have looked at all of them lots of times!

You give me way too much credit woman!! I've always considered myself a terrible teacher! I'm too detail oriented and most of the time think if someone like me can do something then anyone can. I'm a visual/hands on learner so instructions sometimes slow me down...give me a photo of something I'm interested in and I'm good to go.

I joined the group to help where and when I can and to learn from all you other wonderfully talented and creative folks. I'll be happy to help anyone out who asks...if I don't know the answer I will surely find the answer for
both of us.

zshopper- don't spend a lot of money on beads,tools and supplies until you decide if you like making jewelry. It's like any other craft you can spend a fortune on supplies and gear then end up hating it...like me and scrapbooking..UGH!! I love card making but scrapbooks are really not my thing at all...too much time. I say go to Wal Mart buy a few things and for tools you can use old nail clippers for wire cutters to get started or raid someone's tool box..lol, needle nose pliers or invest a little in a 3 n 1 tool there in the Wal Mart jewelry department. Don't forget to check out Wal Mart's Dollar beads. Get one of those little plastic boxes with the comparments it's what I use to use to seperate my cross stitch thread or little tupperware bowls with lids are a good starter. A bead board is another good investment they cost less than $5.00. Then when you decide you really are addicted to this craft...start buying the very best you can afford and take really good care of it. Got to the library look through the magazines, newest jewelry craft books they have get inspired! If you have DIYNetwork check out the jewelry show on there, a lot of basics are taught on that show. Check out jewelry makers on Carol Duvall. We are all here to support you,hold your hand and cheer you on!!

delaniemae...beginning in junior high(long ago),I would scour flea markets,yard sales,thrift stores and such before it was hip to do so,and revamp and restore old pieces. I hand my own style kinda like the movie Pretty in Pink...making something out of nothing. I still get giddy over beautiful buttons, fabric(I don't sew) and rhinestones. I use to carry vintage purses to match all my outfits, even if it was jeans and a sweatshirt my purse, earrings and bracelet was color coordinated vintage wear.
I have huge bins of stuff in my basement that I've had since then and refuse to give up. I started collecting and making the "Bejeweled Christmas" trees a few years back. It was a 70's craft that caught my eye and I've been doing for a while but only for special orders...it's a lot of work.
I have collected more than I have made and each one is so unique and different. I LOVE THEM!!

Sorry guys didn't mean to write a book or hog a thread it's just one of those rainy mornings and I've been up for ages!

Ginger you are much to modest! all of your crafts have a classic look, must because you are so detail oriented, I compare you to candice olson on divine design on hgtv,I might not like for myself the room she designs or the style but one thing is sure when shes done its a room done with much detail and class that you have to love it. Thanks for posting, I know you are and will be much help!
Gram-ph thank you! thats how I felt the frist time I looked at Gingers album, and every time since! I have been looking at the bottle cap pin also, see how classic it looks! you have to keep in mind that its made from a bottle cap, I have about 200 left and ideas rolling! I always look at the pictures and links in post you never know what you might miss.
