Final choices--pls validate

Hi - this forum has helped us make our appliance choices. DW and I want your opinion before we actually buy these appliances:

Refrigerator - Viking 36" FDCD with trim kit to get built in look

> Here we want the built in look but not the price. The viking fridge wasnt too far out cost wise compared to other FDCD models.

Cooktop - Thermador silver finish induction 36"

> DW loves loves loves the look. We knew we wanted to go induction since we attended a Miele kitchen show. We landed on this model because of the look as well as the bevelled edge design that should make it easier to clean.

Hood - Sirius Wall Mounted Chimney 36" 600 CFM - forgot the model

> We didn't really spend a lot of time researching our options but this seems to be the quietest model for our price range and based on what we need.

Dishwasher - Miele entry level Inspira

> We wanted a Miele but did not really need the other functions of the higher end models so we're settling with this one.

Wall Oven - Thermador Masterpiece True Convection 30"

> Love the look, size and functionality. We looked at quite a few other models and we liked this one best.

Warming Drawer - Thermador Masterpiece 30"

> just to match the wall oven

Microwave - Panasonic with trim kit

> we thought it looked great and the $$$ is pretty fantastic

The last three items are all placed in one cabinet tower.

All appliances will have SS finish.

I believe that it's the fridges that Viking has had the most problem with? Some appliance stores I went into carried Viking, but not their fridges, and some quit Viking because of the fridge problems. I haven't had one, so don't have personal experience.

The one thing you're getting that I have is a Panasonic microwave, although we didn't get the trim kit. We do like it. We had one in our last house, and were happy enough with it to get another for our new house.

Viking fridges are garbage. Do not get so caught up with the pro look.

angusglenwest - This is off-topice, but ... you mentioned that you went to the Miele showroom. Did you happen to attend the Master Chef class?

Rhome and parkplaza - thanks for the reminder. DW and I will revisit. Have read the recall thread as well as some other posts on Viking's reliability and customer service (or lack thereof on both). We thought that since the FDCD is made by the same company that does KA, Jenn Air, Whirlpool, thus this model would be as reliable as the others. The price difference was just about $600 with the trim kit. But... will think about it again. That would be another agonizing hour or two of discussions and visiting appliance stores. The other fridge that we liked was the Electrolux FDCD.

Country_smile - we did not attend the master chef class - just the kitchen showroom here in Toronto (Caplan's). They had a chef/ cook doing the demo - and everyone got really interested in the induction cooktop.
