I have the Bernina Artista Version 5. It is very easy to learn. Very nice menus and easy to make simple changes to a design. I have a 12 year old that can use this. It's not cheap, but it gives you more user friendly features.

I have the Bernina Designer Plus Version 4. It's great software, but like davidjsr said, it's not cheap. I have played around with digitizing designs, but now that I'm at home full time I plan to take the online classes at the Bernina website so that I can become more familiar with all the tools available for digitizing.
