Hi, I'm hoping someone can help shed some light - I'm a newbie to this topic.

Our house is over 150 years. We are doing a significant renovation which includes replacing every window and blowing in insulation. I live in the Hudson Valley (NY State) and would like some suggestions on what type of heating system to install. We currently have a 10 year old Weil-Mclain oil boiler (84% efficient). Our roof faces south so solar panels seem to be a real option. We would like to install radiant floors combined with radiant baseboards (for upstairs). Would a solar thermal system be able to significantly contribute to heating the house (besides the hot water?). Does this seem practical? I would probably use a high efficiency propane condensing boiler to supplement the solar. The house is 2600 sq/ft. We have decided to use a split system for AC to avoid having to do any major duct work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
