    1. No, sadly, not any more. The kids don't come home for Easter any more, but maybe when we get Grandkids we'll get to do it again.
    2. I didn't play sports in school, but as an adult I played co-ed softball and was DANG GOOD! I was left field most of the time, and I never had a no-hitter in my career. Alas, bad knee cut my ball playing short.
    3. No! I wanted to but my parents wouldn't let me. My kids were all in Scouts tho.
    4. The peanut butter oat meal ones.
    5. We've got an apple tree, a 4 variety pear, blueberries, grapes, blackberries and raspberries. Also have a rogue huckleberry plant! We try strawberries but the birds eat them before we can harvest them.
    6. Gas. We're trying to do away with lawn, tho.
    7. 14, but two are slider doors.
    8. It's a royal blue backround with the State seal in gold.
    9. Yes! I bought myself a 3 speed cruiser a couple years ago, complete with bell and basket. DH rides it when I'm not home.

    1. Used to be a pro! Went roller-disco skating every weekend in the late 70's.

Pesky, did you forget what's on the other side of the flag?? I think that Oregon might be the only state with a 2 sided flag with different designs on each side.

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend? Nope, no kiddos around to do it for

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport? No, I never played an organized team sport. Played softball and baseball with my friends, and enjoyed playing tennis.

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire? I was a Camp Fire girls starting with blue birds in about 2nd grade and continued in Camp Fire through high school. Went to Camp Fire camp for several years.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie? That's a tough one, but I'd have to say thin mints

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines. I planted a 4 fruit tree - peach, nectarine, apricot and plum

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower? Gas, but I don't mow the lawn, DH does

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?None! My DH does this also

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag? Royal blue background with gold state seal on one side, and a beaver on the reverse

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride? I have a bicycle, but haven't ridden it in years, since I live up a hill that I don't think I could cycle up. I think I may keep it at a friend's house in a flat part of town

    1. Can you roller skate?roller skate - yes, roller blade - no.

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend? No.

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport? No. But we're musicians and play in organized community groups -- does that count?

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire? Girl Scouts - only three years, though.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie? -- Thin mints, of course!

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines. No.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower? Gas. A riding mower and a self-propelled mower. 3 acres requires unencumbered horsepower.

    7. How many windows do you have to clean? I really don't know. Walls and windows blend together around here.

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag? Yep. It's a white square with a red X on it. We're simple folk.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride? No.,

    1. Can you roller skate? HAY-ell no!

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend?
Good question. Haven't thought about it yet! We don't hide eggs, but DD (10), our youngest, usually likes to color them.

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport?
    If so, what sport?
Not really. I tried soccer and track in high school but didn't last long.

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?
Girls Scouts for a couple of years, I think.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
Think mints. Do they have other kinds? ;)

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines.
    Nope.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?
Lawn company. DH had a hernia a few years back and couldn't mow the lawn for several weeks -- hired this lawn company "temporarily." It's such an indulgence but DH feels it's worth it. And PS they do a waaay better job than DH ever did!

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?
Um. See above. Totally worth it to me to pay a company to do this once a year. We don't have a particularly large house, but we do have a ton of windows. Probably 50.

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?
    No!

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?
I have a bicycle. Got a new one last year for my birthday. I have ridden it exactly once. But I plan to change that as soon as the weather improves here.

    1. Can you roller skate?
Used to. Pretty sure I'd injure myself if I tried now!

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend?
    No

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport?
I didn't play a team sport in my youth. In my 20's I played on a work softball team. It was fun but it was more about the after the game eating & drinking and we'd go out dancing. And still make it to work the next day by 7 a.m. Ahh, how I miss that energy.

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?
I was a Girls Scout because my slightly older sister was one so I had to do it also. Hated almost every minute of it.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
I don't buy them anymore, I just give a donation, so I don't have a favorite. Back when I still ate chocolate it was a Thin Mint.

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines.
    No

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?
We pay a neighbor kid to cut the lawn. He uses a gas mower.

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?
20? Obviously, I don't wash them often if I'm not sure how many there are without stopping to count.

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?
It's dark blue (I'm sure) with the State seal on it (I think). If it's not the State seal then I have no idea what it could be. That is so cool that Oregon has a different front & back.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?
Yes, I have a bike in both homes and ride them both. Not anywhere near the level the Trailrunner rides! Just meandering rides around the neighborhood, to the beach, to the grocery store.

    1. Can you roller skate?
Old school skates - yes; roller blades - haven't tried those. I wanted to up until a neighbor gave it a go and ended up with a broken elbow.

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend?
~ No, sadly. My youngest just turned 17 y/o and isn't interested this year.

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport?
~ Back in my 20's I played on a women's beach volleyball team in Deerfield Beach , Florida . . . I was also very much into surfing, swimming, water and snow skiing and scuba diving, but no other team sports

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?
~ Yes, Brownies but got kicked out of Girl Scouts (seriously) after one year. My best friend and I were at scout summer camp and one day just got fed up with the boring routine of learning how to crochet potholders, sing songs. Sooooo, we snuck off around the lake to the boy scouts side, as they were doing such cool things like learning how to shoot bows and arrows, swim relays, build camp fires, etc. Barbie & I were tomboys and probably not the best fit for girl scouts, I guess ;^D

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
    ~ Samoas

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines.
~ Yes: our many, many pinon pine trees give us lots of organic pine nuts; Rosemary and sage bushes; lemon balm used as ground cover; I'm not sure if the Pink Chintz Thyme ground cover we have planted between the flagstone on one patio is edible, though. Interesting question!

    1. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?
~ None . . . no grass at all; Just 3 acres of pinon pine and juniper trees, natural vegetation with brick and flagstone patios and flower beds close to the house

      7. How many windows do you have to clean?
~ OMGosh, I had to walk through the house just now counting them, as I've never done that before! 36 Windows + 7 French doors + 11 glass patio doors. Too many!

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?
~ Yellow with a Zia symbol in the middle of it.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?
    ~ Not at the moment

    1. Can you roller skate?
      ~ yes, but don't anymore

bumblebeez, please let us know *which* plants you have -- I'm trying to develop a combination of permaculture and intensive veg. gardening plots -- I'd love to know what's in your yard and what zone you're in. And we have lots of bumblebeez here too, btw - I have seen several pollinating the huckleberry bushes (native, edible fruits) we have by the driveway : )

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend?
I always love this misspelling -- I don't plan to be dying this weekend, no :), and we won't be dyeing eggs, either!

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport?
I did when I was in school, until my piano teacher made me quit -- I played volleyball and field hockey (right inner forward -- loved it)

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?
Scouts but I always thought Camp Fire was cooler

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
Don't eat them anymore because I know more about the ingrediens-- but when I did (and sold them), thin mints ruled

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines.

Yep -- see above mention of developing permaculture. So far: cherry and pear trees (2 each), wild alpine strawberries, huckleberries, blueberries, raspberry/blackberry area, nasturtium (technically annual, but they reseed pretty easily), and I'd say I have some tomatoes come up every year on their own from dropped tomatoes from the year before, so does that count as permaculture? : ) I'm also trying to pull myself together to make a mushroom-area, which once started, should keep itself going.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?
    manual

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?
    Um,....we have many windows...

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?

    Nope, I couldn't. But I know it now :)

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?

I have one that DH hooked up to be stationary -- I'm starting a program of riding it in a "peak 8" pattern as Mercola outlined early in the morning to get my metabolism going.

    1. Can you roller skate?
I used to ice skate seriously, so when rollerblades came out I was all over them. DH also played hockey, so we passed many weekends rollerblading in Brooklyn, doing things we NEVER should have, e.g. bombing down hilly streets in Park Slope. Good l*rd, when I think about it I shake my head now. Yet no injuries at that point. However, I stopped after falling on my knee (onto a rock -- UGH) going about 5 mph on the Tow Path beside -- what's the name of the Canal in DC? I'm spacing it, and I grew up there! Anyway, didn't have my pads because it was a last-minute idea. Just couldn't bring myself to put them back on after that.

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend? No not this year, but I really enjoy it when we do.

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport? Yes, when I was in grade school, softball and basketball, of course being the shortest on the basketball team, I basically just warmed the bench. :c( It was so tramatic LOL

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie? Several...peanut butters, samoas, mint, sugar, you name it! Too hard to pick a favorite!

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines. No...I'm so not into gardening, wish I was.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower? Riding so gas I guess.

    7. How many windows do you have to clean? several

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag? No, don't think Ive even seen it. We're not where I consider to be our home state either...so I guess that means I've never been curious enough to look for it.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride? no, HA! Me riding a bike? That would be a hilarious sight!

    1. Can you roller skate? Yes, I used to love to skate, it was wonderful exercise.

Oh, and one vine of grapes too. I forgot about that. But the raccoons basically get them, so they're not edible by us : )

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?
Yes. Blue with the state seal-white circle which has the goddess Virtue (Virginia) standing over a tyrant (Britain) with her foot on him and his fallen crown next to him. Also know the motto which is on the flag (Sic semper tyrannis). The seal was adopted in 1776, but the flag was officially adopted in 1861 after Virginia seceded from the Union. Betting they intended the message on the flag to mean something different at that point. Can you tell I teach Virginia History? Sorry.

    Not anymore.

    1. Can you roller skate?

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?
    28? If I'm counting correctly.

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?
Yep! It's white, with a Native American(?) on it. I think?

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?
No. My husband and I talk about getting them constantly, but we haven't yet. He loves kayaking, so that takes up a lot of our free time in the warm weather months.

Ah, that's right--thanks cyn. And ha about the dandelions -- they're permaculture de rigeur this time of year but I just haven't been able to wrap my brain around them. I did, however, buy two books about foraging in the PNW. I bet there's a foraging book for DC area too. And do you all eat the serviceberries? If so, how? And your reply made me remember our herbs-so far only rosemary, oregano, chives, and (of course) mint are perennial where we are. Basil and cilantro I have to seed every year, but I wouldn't go without them.

Fly, ha, even though we only have a little bit of lawn left, we certainly do have a wealth of dandelions! Not sure I would want to eat anything foraged around here!

The blueberries and serviceberries were just planted last year, so didn't get fruit yet. Hoping for some this year. I hear that serviceberries taste better than blueberries. If I get any at all, I will be thrilled. Heck, I'll be thrilled if the dogs don't destroy the shrubs. :)

I couldn't picture the Texas flag and had to google it. Even then I thought "huh, so that's the Texas flag". It's nice. I'll probably forget & won't be able to describe it by later this week.

Now that I've seen the what the Texas flag looks like you have me singing that song!

    The stars at night
    are big and bright
deep in the heart of Texas

It's an ear worm in my head & I want to pass it along to one of you....

WOW, serviceberries better than blueberries?! I didn't know that at all! Off to research...

I've also never heard of a blackberry *bush*. Have to look that one up. We live in the middle of invasive Himalayan blackberry country, so we have those wherever we don't pull them up, but I have well-behaved blackberry canes as well as orange raspberry canes and marionberry canes too. Bushes, though? Sounds interesting. Do they sucker a lot?

    1. Will you be dying and hiding eggs this weekend?
    Nope, for us it's Passover!

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport?
No, I was the ultimate klutz, an embarrassment. But I loved swimming and especially horseback riding.

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?
    No.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?
    Thin mints.

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place?
Yes, three prolific lemon trees and a plum tree.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?
None, we don't have a lawn. We are landscaped with native drought-tolerant plants.

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?
Eighteen, but I hire someone to clean them.

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color and symbol on your State's flag?
    No.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?
Sort of. We are buying a recumbent stationary bike. I can no longer ride a regular bike. Used to love it, though!

    1. Can you roller skate?
As Texanjana wrote, I can but I don't!

    1. Eggs? No, it's not our religious tradition- but we will be doing our Easter Sunday roadside clean up along our dirt road.

    2. Team sports? Oh man, I went to a boarding school that required daily team sport participation. For total klutzes like me that meant girls field hockey. Of course, our school fielded varsity and JV teams, then the Third and Fourth teams. But at the lowest end there were the Buff and Brown teams, and finally, the Gold Squad. In three years I never progressed above Gold squad.

    3. Scouts? I was a Girl Scout - in Saigon! Not an International Girl Guide, but a regular American Girl Scout. In fact I "flew up" from a Brownie to a Scout in an odd-sounding place: the Brinks BOQ (Batchelor Officer Quarters).

    4. Girl Scout cookie? Unfortunately all the cookies when they arrived by surface cargo (the sloooow boat) were always weavily. But as an adult, I've learned that Thin Mints were the best!

    5. Edible plants? Very interesting question as I am seeing more and more references to permaculture. What I have naturally here: Ostrich fern, Basswood, Solomon's Seal, Ginseng, tea berry, morels, wild grapes, sassafras, and of course, sugar maples and birches.

    6. Mower? This is my DH's thing but we use a commercial gas powered mower with a 72" deck. We have a grass runway here so we have to mow a space 60 feet wide by 4,000 feet long.

    1. Windows? 34 in the house, and 56 more in the barns (as if I ever washed those windows - HA!)

    8. State's flag? NY, dark blue background and some drape-y female figure of justice in the center.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride? Have bike, never ride any more. No time in summer because I'm out in my fields, and in the winter it would be suicidal on iced-over dirt roads.

    1. Skate? Assume I can since I figure skate a lot, but never tried it on wheels.

    If so, what sport?

    Yeah, right. LOL

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?

Girl Scouts - Brownies through 6th grade. Quit when I went to middle school and my best friend moved away.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

    Samoas

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines.

    Nope.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?

Gas, but not my area of responsibility.

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?

I don't do windows, but let me count:17, plus a 5 pane bow window in the LR and a slider in the family room.

    1. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?

The field of the flag is white, and it has an eagle on it.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?

A stationary one in the house, tho I don't ride it much. Gonna try to start doing more, tho.

    1. Can you roller skate?

I could when I was a kid, but I haven't been on skates in decades. Not sure my knees would work too well.

    1. Will you be dying & hiding eggs this weekend?
No, we don't celebrate Easter. Not Christian.

    2. Did you or do you still play in an Organized Team Sport? If so, what sport?
Used to play tennis. Not anymore. Now I follow DS around to his baseball games.

    3. Were you in Scouts or Camp Fire?
No. Either were my kids. Not my thing.

    4. What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
Like someone else said, since I read the ingredients I don't eat them anymore or buy them for my family. I do miss Somoas though. They are so good. I wish they would jump on the all natural band wagon!

    5. Do you have edible plants at your place? Not a veggie garden, but trees, shrubs, vines.
No, the deer would eat them before I could.

    6. Electric, gas or manual lawn mower?
Um, no idea what the landscaper uses.

    7. How many windows do you have to clean?
Way too many to count. Probably about 40 plus several french doors.

    8. Without checking Google, can you name the color & symbol on your State's flag?
No. That's embarassing. Time to Google.

    9. Do you have a bicycle you ride?
No. Every spring I tell DH we should get bikes. We live near a canal and it's a beatiful ride. But, we never do it, and honestly with DS's baseball schedule in the spring and summer, I don't think we'd have time anyway.
