Chateau D'Ax Sofa- Low End/No Knowledge?

I've been reading this forum for a while. The only opinion about Chateau D'Ax sofas on here compares them to Natuzzi.

That was not encouraging.

I don't know if anyone reads this forum if they are NOT looking for an answer to a furniture question? So, maybe, the contented people have no desire to answer my question above?

Is it salepeople that frequent this forum to "advertise" their wares? I always wondered.

But, if you happen to be on this forum, and you DO know anything about Chateau D'Ax and are willing to tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly, I'd appreciate it.

It seems after being on here for a while, and looking at many different sofas, my husband and I have found a Chateau D'Ax we liked at Macy's Home store.

Any comments one way or another? Thanks.

We have a set--also bought at Macy's, probably 5 or 6 years ago. The sofa is a sofa-bed. The bed part isn't terribly comfortable, but works fine (pulls out and goes in just fine).

We have 3 young kids, and the set is in our main living room, so is much used. I always sit in the same spot to watch tv, and that side of the couch is a bit lower than the other side. It doesn't bother me--I've recently started sitting on the opposite side to see if I can even it out.

It has held up very well for the price we paid--when purchasing, I didn't expect to get more than 10 years out of it, but it is still in fine shape after 5 or 6 years. Other people have asked me where they can get a set, so I guess it's still very attractive.

I really liked that the seat cushion (which looks like 3 cushions) is actually one cushion--3 sewn together. At the time we bought it my little girl had been constantly pulling cushions off our old set and I was sick of putting them back!

Our sofa is in the middle of the room, so the back is exposed, and with 3 kids somersaulting over it on a daily basis, it still looks pretty new. The leather is still in great shape.

I think it's a good buy for the price you pay. I have seen a lot worse in leather--my SIL's set is all bunchy in the cushions--mine are still great, although slightly sunken on one side (the only spot I sit in) and a bit "softer" now than when we first bought it (it was very firm in the store).

Our next sofa will be high end, but this one got us through this stage of life very well.

My daughter bought the Chateau D'Ax leather sofa at Macy's about five years ago. I think it's called the "Opie" or something similar. Paid in the neighborhood of $1000. It's the primary place they crash at night so it sees a lot of use. It looks like new. I'm pretty impressed that it's stood up so well because they don't baby it.

Because they liked it so much, my mom and dad also bought one just like it but in a different color (special order) about 4 years ago, and it shows absolutely no wear and is super comfortable too. Ok....it's my mom and dad, and they aren't hard on anything, so it's not a great test. But still......they love it and it's a great napping sofa. For the price, I'd buy one in a minute if I had a place for it. Love the chair and ottoman that goes with it too.

Just this week, my wife and I purchased a Chateau D'Ax leather sectional sofa (Alviso) from Raymour & Flanigan. At the time, I didn't know anything about the manufacturer, other than it was made in Italy. (The opinions that I've seen in these forums since then has been a bit discouraging.)

I had done some research prior to the purchase on leather types and processing/dyeing methods and was satisfied with the type of leather used on the couch we chose. We loved the look - especially the tufted seat cushions - and it will fit the space we need it for. We won't be taking delivery of the sofa for at least a month until our house remodel is complete, so can't give any in-home impressions of the look/quality yet.

Incidentally, our final decision was between the Chateau D'Ax Alviso and a different leather sectional at Macy's (not sure if it was Chateau D'Ax or not). Both looked great, but we the one we went with just seemed to be of a higher quality leather and had better stitching on the tufted seats.

We have two young boys, so I'm hoping the sofa will live up to our expectations. We did purchase the 5 year extended protection plan. I hope that was a good decision. It never occurred to me to negotiate with the salesman to throw it in for free, as others have suggested in these forums.

Here is a link that might be useful: The sofa we purchased.

We purchased (2) sku5064886 Stacey Leather Modular U771-CB Armlschr DK Brown 401 and (3) SKU5064894 U77l-PH Corners Dk Brown 401 in February 2010 My husband has developed osteoarthritis and is in need of back support. Do you manufacture a reclining piece for this sectional? If so, where and how can we purchase it.

I've seen some negative reviews of Chateau Dax online (and some great ones) and seeing it in person the leather looks good but the stitching on a sofa in the store was already being ripped up just by it being on display. However I only need the sofa to last me about 5-7 years; trying to decide between the Alessia sofa by Chateau Dax and Mercer41 Kittrell sofa (Mercer41 used to be $2500 or so they say ) and seems a better quality but I hate buying it online without trying. Does anyone know how the two brands compare in quality? Mercer is velvet, very stylish, on AllModern (I haven't bought anything from them and don't know if they generally have good quality).

I bought a Chateau d'Ax all leather (real hides) sectional from Macy's about 7 years ago. The sectional is individual pieces that you place where you want. I still love it. It has held up to 100 pound dogs, me and my husband, grandkids and kids and a flood - and when I clean the leather, looks brand new. I also own a Natuzzi (real hides) leather sofa - don't see much difference in quality. If you take care of your furniture, it will look good for years.

I was wondering if you bought it and if it held up, looking to buy Chateau D Ax with tufted seats myself, not sure if its Nap-p-able enough.. any thoughts?

We got our set in May 2016! trough Macys. Because of my husband's work, our home stayed empty for most of the time until now that we moved back. We have been using it daily since October 2017 and I can honestly tell you that they are NOT worth the money. I love the leather, it is of good quality but the support and firmness are GONE!!! Poor construction and Low quality materials for the construction of it. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!! Working on contacting the company before I call my lawyer.

I have had a Chateau D'Ax sofa for about 15 years. I am looking to replace it because it is beginning to look quite worn. Fifteen years with multiple cats and dogs have taken a toll. I have to say the sofa still sits very comfortably and were it not for pet abuse, I would not be looking for a new sofa.

This post is from 2007 . Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I have owned my sofa, chair and ottoman for nearly 15 years and it looks as good today as the day I bought it. I have a Doberman pincher, dachshund , and miniature teacup dachshund. they play ROUGH and the furniture holds up nicely. I’m in the market for another set for my lake home and I wouldn’t waste my money on anything else. 5 stars in my book

@John Watson I just purchased this EXACT sofa, love seat and ottoman through FB Marketplace. The previous owners had the foresight to customize a thick piece of glass which converts the ottoman into a coffee table. I do wish it opened for extra storage.

Your post is the only image that fits, maybe you could help answer some questions.

    • do you know the value when new?

    • there are some wear and tear scuffs due to age and moving, do you suggest mink oil to maintain integrity?

    • it’s not really brown or red - would you call it orange leather? I’m having a hard time finding accent colors!

    Hi,

I had purchased various sectional pieces from Macy's 5 years ago to make an L shaped sofa. It is the Stacey Leather design in pearl white. Now I am looking for a corner piece or a lounge piece to separate out the L and make two sofas. If anyone is looking to sell, let me know. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if you can remove the back of the Chateau D'ax electric reclining loveseat for moving?

I've had my Chateau d'Ax set for 20+ years, and it still looks and feels great. I was ready to update and buy a new set, and my husband said, "Are you crazy? Why on earth would you replace those?" One chair did have 17 years of cat scratches, but I had a guy come out and refinish the leather, and it looks good as new. Even though the style and color are a little dated, I still love them, and they'll probably wind up in our estate.

We purchased a set of cream leather Chateau D'ax sofa and chairs at Macys 8 years ago and still love the set. They have weathered very well and look great. The stitching is the only thing that you have issues getting discolored from wear. I want to buy another set. I remember the salesperson stating that CD are Italian but could be made in one of three countries: Italy, Mexico, and one other country. Either way, I love my set. Natuzzi is supposed to great as well.

@magmason, I have that set also! About 20 years old. Absolutely love it. So so comfortable.

Has anyone recently purchased a Chateau D'Ax leather power reclining sofa. I am interested in purchasing the Gemma sofa from Bloomingdales, but I am concerned about the quality of the couch and the reclining mechanism. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Just to comment many years later We bought a Chateu D'ax leather sectional 22 years ago It has been wonderful. The cushions and frames are still almost like new. The leather is finally breaking down after all these years of raising 3 kids, many pets, and family and friends galore. I want to buy the exact same one again and wish i could find it!
