Here's one in pine from Southern Craftsmen's Guild: http://www.southerncraftsmensguild.com/proddetail.php?prod=3682

Another, from Brown Street Furniture, available in pine or cherry wood : http://www.brownstreet.com/search.php (type "sleigh" in the search box to see all sleigh beds).

Both are well made and available in Black. Probably range from $900-$1500.

Another source is Simply Amish, although they may be a bit pricier.

YOU ARE AWESOME!
thank you so much for your great suggestions! i have contacted both southern craftsmen's guild and brown street and in the process found some other vendors that i had never heard of before but have some really great stuff!

Durham Furniture is another one to check out - well made Canadian furniture. The Saville Row collection has a sleigh bed in black. Some of the other collections might too.

Check with lexfurniture.com for price and also see if your local stores will come close to that price.

so my neighbor is an interior designer. she was having an auction today and i went simply because she is my neighbor, after all, i am saving for my sleigh bed!
well, she had a sleigh bed. it wasn't EXACTLY what i was looking for, but i got it for $350 and i was looking at spending up to 8 times that! but it is BIG and it is SOLID! the only thing is that it is that dark cherry color that i am not too crazy about.
so... i've been looking around the painting forum for tips. i've decided that i'm gonna attack painting this huge monstrosity of a bed myself. i'll try to post pics if i do a decent job. if i don't post, know that i wish that i had spent the $2000 on one done by professionals!
after all... how hard can it be to clean sand prime sand paint sand paint sand and paint a HUGE king size sleigh bed?
wish me luck!!!!

Hi,
Well, after reading through the posts it sounds like you found what you needed from your neighbor. If anyone else is out there looking for a black sleigh bed though here's a link you can visit for one called the Ebony Sleigh Bed.

Cheers,
Phil
