Sofa Like This?

Dania Furniture has a sofa that I've been lusting after for two years now. It's the Belmont sofa. The price is very reasonable and it will probably last just as long as I need it to. The problem is, the closest store is a 5 hour drive from me and they don't ship. Does anybody know of a place I can get this sofa - without the big designer pricetag - that hopefully will deliver to Cincinnati?

Wait--they won't ship at all? I know that they don't let you order off their website, but even if you are in the store on vacation and decide to buy a sofa, there is absolutely no regular freight shipping option? Have you spoken to the store manager? (Truthfully, tho, I'd hate to see what they'd charge you for that.)

Well, it's more of a distance than Chicago is (I'm assuming that's the Dania location that's closest to you), but maybe Bova Furniture? There's one in St. Louis.

    Or Bo Concept?
Or Room & Board (i know they deliver!)

Oh wait--go look at the Chiasso website. They have some vaguely similar sofas.

Only 5 hours, get a u-haul truck. Or call them up and ask them the designer's name and google the manufacturer of the sofa.

I did call them and ask about delivery, they said they had too many problems with damage and the shipping companies wouldn't own up to. I thought about getting a uhaul. Then I could stop at Ikea and get those bookshelves I've been wanting.

And thanks for the Chiasso suggestion. I saw a sofa there that would suit me even if the color is a bit lighter.

I was looking at Bo Concepts because there's a Bova furniture in Cincinnati. Then I read about all the markups - delivery assembly and figured it would be much cheaper for me to rent a truck and drive to Chicago.

I guess that's what I'll end up doing. Just looking for other ideas.

    Thanks, everybody!

One thing about Bo Concept that I should have mentioned. When I was looking at a wood bed and armoire there (one of their stores is in Virginia, where I live), the delivery time was at least 2 months. Now, I know that for big-name furniture lines--Thomasville, etc.--that kind of lead-time is nothing--isn't it much longer? But I was stunned. These 2 items weren't a special-order thing--no special fabrics or finish. Practically everything they sell has to be shipped over from Europe.

And I thought of another place you should look at: Eq3.
(eq3.com). They have several sofa styles with chrome/other metal legs and some nice, contemporary, simple lines.

They don't have many U.S. stores yet; there are some furniture stores that have "eq3 galleries"--some in Ohio. I've been to one of their full-fledged stores in Richmond, and they had cool stuff. I also picked up a catalog; customer service might be able to send you one.

But if you've got some burly friends who could be persuaded to hop in a rental truck with you in exchange for a good meal along the way, maybe Dania's not so far away after all! (plus Ikea Schaumburg--woohoo!)

EQ3 also has some good options. I called Enterprise about renting a large cargo van, it's only $60 a day, so looks like there's going to be a road trip to Chicago in my future!
