HELP: floors peeling

We have closed on a new construction last week. The floors are finished with (supposedly) 2 coats of polyurethane. We have placed rosin paper on the floors to protect them during furniture move. We attached the paper with blue painter's tape. When we took the paper off, the polyurethane peeled in strips where the tape was attached, exposing bare floors. What went wront? We are devastated!! Never thought the floors can peel from painter's tape. Help!!
