does anyone recognize these chairs

Hi,

I'm looking for a dining table and chairs. Our style is traditional/transitional. I love these chairs that are in the Boyles catalog but it doesn't say who makes them. Here is the link - http://www.boyles.com/browse_showroom/byroom.cfm?sid=C1882014-5D3F-4E81-B6A2FA1C245901AA&cid=68. Does anyone recognize the manufacturer? Alternatively, have you come across any others that are similar. I'm not necessarily looking for top tier furniture but I do want quality.

Thanks

Sherry

You just need to email them and request information about the chairs, let them know you would like information about the manufacturer and price, materials and whatever else you would like to know. There wouldn't be any obligation and then you could compare prices if it was available elsewhere, also. You might actually find you want to purchase them from Boyles. Either way, it is certainly thier job to provide the information on the items they sell and they wouldn't expect you to make a decision to purchase them and refuse to tell you who made them. Just ask.

I didn't even think to ask them since they have taken manufacturers names off the catalog. Many of the furniture stores have recently started putting their own code on the pieces so you can't tell who make them ... and won't even tell you if you ask. I hate that. I want to know what I am buying. I'll contact them and see what they say.

If the set is made specifically for Boyles, it is possible they might not tell you. I would simply let them know that the reputation of manufacturer, as well as the backing of any waratantees, the quality of the finish, etc. has a lot to do with who makes it. If you prefer not to deal with "no name" furniture, let them know that, also. But if it is made just for them, you won't likely find it elsewhere, either. If it is quality furniture that carries a substantial price, and they expect you to pay for that, then I would think they would tell you. They might remove it from the ad, but give the information if specific inquiries are made. JMHO. No harm in trying. Do you specifically NOT want to use Boyles?

These are beautiful chairs. I have seen them somewhere....they remind me of the Gibbons chair by Kerry Joyce for Dessin Fournir (but the Kerry Joyce chair is to the trade only and is VERY expensive).

You might want to check this out if you haven't already:

    http://www.ffdm.com/

You can read about construction and retailer locations. By the way, many of the retailers listed are Stickley furniture retailers. You might be able to find the chairs locally to look at them and try them out and still get a better deal from a NC retailer like Boyles. At least you would know how their prices compare and if you like the quality.

Those chairs look very similar to the Dover chairs manufacturered by Hillsdale furniture.

Here is a link that might be useful: Similar chair
