Upholstery Fabrics

I'm decorating our family room, buying upholstered furniture for the first time in a long time. I've always tended to be a natural fibers kind of girl - my clothes are generally cotton, linen or wool, I was only looking at wool rugs for the family room, but now I'm looking at upholstery fabric and it's synthetics everywhere.

I'm looking at a couple of Robert Allen chenilles. One is polypropylene, polyester, acrylic and nylon. The othe is polypropylene and polyester. Is this stuff good quality? Will it look good and wear well? I think of Robert Allen as a quality product but there's a little (perhaps very dated?) voice in my head that says that chenilles should be cotton. Even a much higher end chenille that I was looking at in the store today (Pierre Frey - $100 p/yd - at that price it had better be good)was all polyester.
