Does anyone know when the use of asbestos was discontinued in flooring products? I am removing some Congeoleum Cushionfloor sheet vinyl that was installed 1983 or later. I need to sand a few places to clean up the underlayment/subfloor. How likely is this to have asbestos?

I am definitely a senior citizen and in my younger days, knew nothing of asbestos potential problems, handled those materials with no thought about it. Now if I had an exposure to asbestos, the time for problems to develop is longer than my life expectancy. So I may just do it anyway and then clean with HEPA vacuum.
