floor/door mat help

Where I live in Florida there is no soil to speak of, only sand. It is fine as sugar and gets tracked in at every access point. I have invested in a number of mats of different types and all of them work to varying degrees. But before I do my floors, I need to invest some money in really good mats!

When we get to the lawn and landscape, that will help, but in the meanwhile I need to reduce the volume of abrasive sand that's coming in. I have three main access points that I want to put a mat on - one outside and another inside the door. They don't all have to be alike. The exterior mats should have some water resistance as they are subject to salt air and sprinkler over-spray.

Can anyone recommend mats that are good for catching sand?

How about sisal, seagrass or polypropylene area rug? Check in with overstock.com for colors and sizes.
Sisal is the one I think would work with sand, hopefully, and the polypropylene can be used for interior or exterior.

i can't speak specifically about sand - only had these mats while in ohio, but i love my LL Bean Waterhog mats, both in/out of the house & in my car. they are substantial so they stay put & keep their shape, very well made, and easily hose off. they come in indoor (water stays in the mat) and outdoor (water has channels to flow out of the mat). they have several shapes & a made-to-order size as well. I highly recommend them. they have beaches in maine too :) so they're probably good for sand

I posted to this question in the cleaning forum as well, but wanted everyone here to know also: I got my LL Bean catalog a few days ago, and the waterhog mats are in there, PLUS the company is advertising FREE SHIPPING with no minimum order ! Would be a great time to try these mats, I think.
