please help!!!!

I seriously need advice and as quickly as possible. I am waiting for the flooring contractor to call me back and have put a stop payment on the final check.

I had my hardwood floors refinished and came home later this afternoon to find a few issues I'm quite concerned about:

1. There is an area when you first walk in the door that looks as if it was somehow repaired but not properly. It's only a few inches long but it's soft and feels like putty. It looks absolutely horrible.

2. There are many holes that were not filled in. Was he supposed to fill the holes in?

3. There is an area under one of the radiators that was totally ignored.

4. There are horrible looking gaps in certain areas between the floor and the baseboards. Actually looks as if tiny pieces of wood are missing but was not replaced.

I did ask the contractor if I needed to be concerned in any way about the baseboards when he came to give me the estimate and he said absolutely not.

I tried calling the contractor as soon as I came home but got his voicemail and after three hours when he had not called me back I put a stop payment on the final check dated tomorrow to protect myself. I called him again a few hours ago and he told me he could not talk but would call me back tonight. I never got a chance to tell him that I put a stop payment on the check.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
