Smiley's Yarn

Has anyone ordered from Smiley's Yarn? What did you order and did you have a good experience? I hesitate to order from a source that won't accept returns and would like to know about what other people think.

Thanks

I have ordered from them several times and have never been disappointed. I am planning on placing an order today, in fact. Since they don't accept returns you might be better off ordering yarn you are familiar with. I got some mohair before Christmas that I was unfamiliar with, but I love it.

I've ordered from them once with no problems also. You just have to shop carefully and know what you receive is what you keep. As I recall they have a minimum purchase, $30 I think, and shipping is abour $9. Mostly I shop Herrschners online but have also been happy with yarnsupply dot com.

I was just like you, not sure if what to expect, but I took the plunge and ordered a fairly large order last November. I was very pleased. They were fast and their customer service was top notch. (I emailed them right away because after I ordered I did not get a confirmation page with an order number on it.) The only drawback I noticed is that much of the yarn is from Canada, (and other places outside the US) and I couldn't tell how many yards were in each skein after looking at the label after I received it. But with most of it I ordered 2 skeins just to be sure I had enough to make a scarf without running out. With the name brands I was familiar with I had no problem.

I would most certainly order from them again. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate them an 8. And that's only because of the no return policy and you can only order by credit card; I like to be able to pay by check too (just one of my security phobias.)

    I hope this helps.

Susan, you're right. Some of the yarn does not list yardage on the label. But the yardage is listed on Smiley's website. I ordered some Wendy Peter Pan baby yarn in November and that was the case with this yarn. I haven't used it yet, but it is sooooo soft and the color is yummy. It's called baby dots. The yellow is so pale it's like undyed butter, with little dots of bright blue, pink, green and yellow. Today I decided on the afghan I want to make with it and wasn't sure there would be enough, so I just ordered a dozen more skeins. That $30 minimum, you know. I figure I can make an outfit to go with it.

Thanks for the responses. I'll consider this source if I know exactly what I'm looking for.
