Amazon question

This is definitely not a complaint, in fact I couldn't be more happier if I tried!

But for the past month or so whenever I order something from Amazon, I pay no s&h, and I get the 2 day shipping! I mean it's here in two days.

I have an Amazon credit card, but I've had that for a couple of years now.

One of my gifts to my son and his wife when they had their first child, is that I will buy all diapers for them. I've been ordering a case a month from Diapers.com for about $37/month.

Now Amazon has the automatic "renewal" for such orders where they send it automatically every month without me doing a thing. Not only that, the same case of diapers are only $23 or $24. Huge savings.

Do you think because I have an automatic order going with them that's why I'm getting free S&H along with the two day shipping?

Anyone want me to order something for you? lol Talk about saving money!

Amazon offers free super saver shipping on a lot of things. I generally only order from them when that's the case.

Did you sign up for Amazon Prime, or was it offered as a part of your credit card agreement? That is free two day shipping on all orders.

They offer free shipping on lots of things as Natal said. I don't have their credit card and didn't sign up for anything special. If the purchase qualifies (and I also only order when that is the case), all I do is select free shipping-easy peasy.

Yep, Amazon offers free shipping on anything over $25 - but it is not guaranteed to be two-day shipping. That is why I asked about Amazon Prime - that has the free two-day shipping.

I've been ordering from them for years and have always paid S&H. That's why I was surprised to see that no matter what I order, the S&H is free.

No, I didn't sign up for Prime & it wasn't part of my CC agreement either.

It's a nice treat though, especially with Christmas around the corner. I've already started my shopping. :)

You might want to make sure you aren't being charged for Prime annually. It was something like $70 when I tried it a few years back. Their free shipping option is on orders over $25. They usually arrive very quickly but not a 2-day guarantee or anything. Since the diapers are under $25, I'd check to make sure you didn't end up on a Prime trial when you got the CC or in some other way. They can be tricky with those things. You might not have noticed. Lots of places like to make things automatic and they can get by you if you're not careful.

I'm thinking I'm on the trial plan. But I swear they've always charged me s&h before this, no matter what I order. Too bad we can't just call and find out! lol

I'm looking at phones on Amazon - even the $20 handset is free shipping.

I just looked at a music CD I'm looking at - it says - Price: $10.99 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25.

roselvr, can you link the $20 free shipping item? The policies area still seems to show only their basic Super Saver free shipping (for eligible items only) on orders over $25. Maybe it's a special offer from the manufacturer?

If you're shipping on the Prime plan it should show on your account. You can also place a call to them through the Help system or use email to inquire. I also see a Feedback area in light blue at the bottom of the product page which includes a link to Customer Service.

So far everything in my cart qualifies for free shipping details

    Super Saver Shipping

FREE on Orders $25 and Over (some restrictions apply)

How do I take advantage of FREE Super Saver Shipping?

    1. Place at least $25 of eligible Amazon.com products in your Shopping Cart. (Eligible items will say "eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping ..." next to their price.)

    2. Proceed to checkout.

    3. Ship your items to a single U.S. address.

    4. Select "Group my items into as few shipments as possible" as your shipping preference.

    5. Select Super Saver Shipping as your shipping speed. After your order ships, it will be delivered within 5-9 business days.

    6. Place your order, and enjoy the free shipping!

    The Fine Print

    * If you qualify for FREE Super Saver Shipping but your order also contains one or more ineligible items, you'll be charged shipping fees for those ineligible items.

    * Canceling items, combining orders, or changing your shipping address, speed, or preference might affect your order's eligibility for Super Saver Shipping.

    * Applies only to orders with at least $25 of qualifying merchandise, excluding gift-wrap charges and taxes, at the Amazon.com and CDNOW.com Web sites.

    * Excludes items that do not include a statement that they are eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping next to their price. Also excludes certain oversize items, e-documents, software downloads, music downloads, and gift cards.

    * Eligible items fulfilled by Amazon.com may not be eligible if fulfilled by a third-party seller. Look for the "FREE Super Saver Shipping" next to the price in all "New, used, and collectible" listings to see if the item is eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping from any particular seller.

    * The price of shipping a magazine subscription is already included in the subscription price. However, the price of a magazine subscription can be applied toward the $25 order total needed to qualify for FREE Super Saver Shipping.

    * Applies to U.S. delivery addresses in the 50 states only, including Alaska and Hawaii. Geographic shipping restrictions may apply to particular products; for example, some Tools & Hardware items may not be shipped to Alaska and Hawaii using FREE Super Saver Shipping.

    * Applies to APO/FPO addresses when using a United States ZIP Code only.

    * Weekend delivery cannot be requested. We use a variety of carriers to deliver orders, and some do not deliver on weekends.

    * Some special product, order, or handling fees may still apply.

    * May be used in conjunction with a promotional code. The qualifying amount is the total amount of the products purchased before the promotional codeis applied.

    * You will not receive FREE Super Saver Shipping on your order if any eligible items are canceled, bringing the total below $25.

    * May be used with 1-Click orders. To take advantage of this offer, please follow these steps:

    1. Once you've ordered at least $25 of eligible products, click the "Review or edit your 1-Click orders" button on the 1-Click® confirmation page
    2. On the next page, which summarizes your order, click the Change button next to Shipping Speed.
    3. Finally, select Super Saver Shipping as your shipping speed

    * We reserve the right to change or discontinue FREE Super Saver Shipping at any time.

Oakley, you might want me to do some investigating. Check your Amazon account to see if there's an annual charge for Prime.

I joined Amazon Prime yesterday (the 1 month free trial) in order to get a new coffee maker fast. (Ours died Sunday and the old camp percolator just doesn't cut it.) I did make a note to myself to cancel the Prime within 30 days ... otherwise they'll charge my credit card $79/year and renew it automatically. Not a good thing!

I haven't been charged for the Prime. I talked to some of my friends and this is happening to all of them. They told me it's a freebie until October.

Like I said, I've never received free shipping on anything from Amazon before and I buy a lot of things from them.

Now this is great. I needed a "grandma basket". I'm setting up a basket for my grandson when he comes over that will have toys in it to play with. Yesterday I ordered three very pretty (different sizes) white wicker baskets with a white lining trimmed in lace. Perfect for the living room!

I ordered it yesterday and it came today! Not one penny went to S&H.

When this does expire, I'm thinking about paying the yearly charge for it. Because I do a lot of online shopping since I live in the country and hate to go shopping. lol

I ordered 7 pounds of Fescue seed for my dh yesterday from Amazon. No s&h. Can you imagine what it would normally cost? It's cheaper to go to Amazon than walking next door to shop at a Walmart, if there was a Walmart next to me. :)

We are definitely taking advantage of this. I've already started my Christmas shopping.

Natal, I believe that you can share your Prime membership with up to three other people. Our older son signed up for Prime, and now we use it as does our younger son. We did not have to be living in the same place or have everything shipped to the same address. Definitely worthwhile if you shop a lot online, or send things to others frequently.

Dumb question Les, but do the three of you then share the same credit card? (Don't laugh, I haven't had my coffee yet. ;)

I love shopping at Amazon but never signed up for their card. I've snagged a lot of items with free Super Saver shipping. I just ordered a year's supply of Charlie's Soap for laundry when I found it on sale at $10/bag. Shipping on that would have been astronomical. Longest it's ever taken is 4 or 5 days, but with SS shipping usually 2-3 is common.

Natal, look into a Bunn. DH & I got one for Christmas one year. His mom and my aunt always had the best coffee and they had Bunn machines. Does make good coffee and fast!

    Why can't you?

Les, I don't have any interest in sharing the Prime or keeping it beyond the free period. I'm normally willing to wait a week or so for an order, but the coffee maker was a different story. It's hard for me to function without a cup or two.

Moon, I almost bought a Bunn, but the one I liked was almost $150. Since we don't seem to get more than 4 years out of a coffee maker that just seemed a little high. How many years have you had yours?

"When this does expire, I'm thinking about paying the yearly charge for it. Because I do a lot of online shopping since I live in the country and hate to go shopping. lol "

I decided to try out the Amazon Prime on a trial basis a year ago, when I wanted to order a bunch of books for book club and needed one of the batch in a hurry. I too was going to cancel....and then decided to keep it and see if i liked it.

And, it is the BOMB!!! Let me tell you, if you use Amazon frequently and have any need, interest or intention of getting things quickly Prime is a godsend. Since the year is finishing soon I went to my order history a couple of weeks ago and I've saved well over $200 in shipping costs. So it has definitely earned back the initial investment.

But what's really great is how easy and convenient it makes shopping. For birthdays, and for the Xmas holiday especially it was a dream come true. I bought almost all my gifts on Amazon. Of course now you CAN buy almost anything on Amazon. So, I was able to avoid stores almost entirely last holiday season. Cheap at any price.

I think it is an auto-renew feature and I'll happily fork over the money. You can add several folks, so my daughter is on my Prime account. Also, you can use it to send gifts to different addresses...which is also a great time and energy saver.

It isn't for everyone of course, but if you fit some of the criteria I mentioned Amazon Prime might be for you too.

When I said "we got one for Christmas one year" I meant that literally, lol, as in that was our 'big' gift to each other that year. I want to say 4 or so years ago. Ours was $125, think it came from Kohl's, on sale w/coupons. Model NHBX. "Model Year" 262608. I know my years are beginning to blur, but no way did we get it two Christmases ago, if those last two digits indicate year. Looks like this. (And has dropped in price, sheesh!) I'm not a big fan of hot coffee, but drink it more now from that machine. You know how after awhile coffee makers seem to leave a 'bite' in the brew? This doesn't do that, and it's ready in a few minutes. My MIL had hers for many years, from the time I met DH till long after we got married. It looked almost vintage. She made Gevalia coffee in it. Hers was the best coffee I ever had.

We used to go through quite a few coffee makers too. I'm really happy with this one compared to others.
