Mandarin Stitch?

My grandmother used to crochet a stitch that she called 'punto mandarina', it looked sort of like a mandarin (orange) slice. I have not seen it in my searches and I wonder if anyone here knows of such a stitch?

Would it be a shell stitch? A shell stitch looks a bit like 1/2 an orange slice, or a fan shape. Check out the video on the link below.

No, it is not that one. I will try to get a picture of the stitch and I will post it. :)
