I weave the tails into the tightest part of a row of stitches or the edge for 2 or 3 inches and then double back, cutting the yarn off at the edge of the piece, not within the piece. I like to wash my gifts before I give them away, using plenty of fabric softener, in order to remove the sizing and make the item as soft as possible. If you do that too, you will see how well the ends will hold up. good luck

I wouldn't necessarily call this a "trick", but I like to use a sharp needle, not a blunt yarn needle to weave my ends in. This way, I can make sure my yarn is not taking the "easy" route, but is splitting the yarn that I am weaving into and is less likely to come undone.

WOW!! My sincere thanks to both of you!! I never thought about "where" to cut the yarn, and weaving it into the project, then back out to the edge....dang that makes such good sense!! And using the yarn needle is such a great idea too!! That way you can make those ends go into the tighest space in the stitches...amazing!
