Patons Totem is 8 ply. And Patons Zhivago is a Fashion Yarn with NO ply rating as it does match any ply.

Zhivago gives a tension of 28 rows by 20 stitches on 4mm needles.

Totem gives 30 rows by 22 stitches on 4mm needles - slightly bigger.

You might produce a slightly different tension anyway. I'd suggest that you knit up a 10cmx10cm square first and then decide whether you should change needle size, perhaps 4.5mm.

Just wanted to let you know I have finished the balaclava.
I just used the lady size instead of the man's size pattern.
It fits my adult grandson perfectly.

Yes I would consider it a generous 8ply.
