Hi, Quirkpod. I sent you an email about a pattern I had. I found a pattern for an afghan at the link msmeow gave you that is identical to the shawl pattern I spoke of. Just start at the corner and crochet until it is the length and width you want and forget about coming back in to the opposite corner. You can crochet an edging around it if you wish, but it isn't really necessary. Depends on how fancy you want it.

I forgot to mention that this pattern would work well with thread as well. A size 10 thread and a size 7 hook should work. And it shouldn't take long to make as the stitch pattern is very simple. Once you get started you won't need to ever look at the pattern again.

I have made a triangular shaw for my granddau (and one for me) Knitted. Started out with 4 casted on stitches and just increase one stitch at the beginning of each row. (I made a knit 2 then increase one stitch for the side edge pattern) I also made two ponchos with this pattern (different knit patterns stitches) by just binding off enough stitches when you get in the middle (for the head/neck) and then casting back on those stitches the next row in that place..and then decreasing one stitch at the beginning of each row until I am down to the point again. Works good.
