Hi, Serica - usually they tell you to cast on stitches at the beginning of the row. I don't know what cast on method you use, but the way I would do it is insert the rh needle in the first stitch, yo, draw up a loop and slip it on the lh needle. Do that for as many new stitches as you need (in this case, 8). You would then start knitting that row by knitting the new stitches first, then the rest of the row.

Thanks! Yes, it make perfect sense. I've always used the longtail cast on method and other methods to cast on a single st in the middle of the work, but never that many at once. I'm good to go now.
