I find it much easier to knit with them than to crochet. But it is easier to crochet with them if you use another "regular" yarn with them. It adds a bit of body to the item and the fur effect is still there.

I'm going to second Donna's 'regular' yarn. It's also a bit easier if you use a larger hook than recommended.

They really look their best if you knit with them, especially the ones with eyelashes. The slubbed ones might be ok crocheted, but not the eyelash. I always end up ripping out any eyelash that I have crocheted and get out the knitting needles.
