How do you hold the yarn for continental?

I've been trying to learn the continental method of knitting. I can see that it might be faster than the English method, but I'm having a terrible time finding a good way to hold the yarn, even though I'm left-handed and you'd think I'd find it easier. Some books show it wrapped twice around the forefinger/index finger. My problem is how to feed it from the rest of the fingers, especially since some of those fingers are holding the needle.

Any of you have a special method or any hints?

I'm a fairly inexperienced knitter trying to get better.
