I am currently translating a french sweater pattern and was doing quite well until it came to the point to start the raglan edge. The instructions are:

former le raglan en rab. de ch. cote: 1 x 3 m. puis: *4 rgs plus haut: 1 x 1 m., ts les 2 rgs: 3 x 1 m.* repeter de * a* 4 fs, ts les 2 rgs: 11 x 1 m.

I know that m. = maille = stitch, rgs = rangs = rows, and that it's telling me to cast off on both sides. However, I don't understand all the 1 x 3, etc. If someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
