I was hoping someone remembered them. Sigh.

They were shown in red, white and blue -- probably back in the 70's. I wonder if it was near the bicentennial? My mom had a red, white and blue wallpaper in her kitchen and I was just learning/teaching myself to crochet. I didn't like a lot of the patterns, but liked these and she loved them. I'd like to make them in new colors.

I have searched a number of websites -- and Ravelry. I wish I could be sure of the magazine the patterns was in -- seems like BH&G or such, but searched there too. Still haven't found them (I think there were 3 of 4 and I know I made at least 2 different patterns). I am going to try to create something similar -- and I may try one if wool and felting it.

Will try to remember to post if I am successful in finding them or recreating them.

I believe I've seen and may have something like that. I'm out of town until tomorrow evening, but I'll check when I get home. Does the name Jesse Abularach ring a bell? I have several of her books. I think they are from the sixties. Google her name and look at some of the images.

The name doesn't ring any bells, but I was a kid when I made them -- probably wouldn't have paid attention to a name if it was included in the article. The one thing I am pretty sure of is that it was from an article in a magazine. Most likely a general women's or home magazine -- BH&G, Family Circle, etc.

ETA: I'm thinking it could have been McCall's magazine. I found some other old crochet patterns from McCall's online and they seem familiar too.

I didn't find what I was looking for among my computer files, but I will keep looking. I have quite the stash of books and magazines. It just takes longer to look through those.

Thanks for looking. I am going to be starting some spring cleaning and looking through things too. I don't remember having that pattern though.

I am still hoping to find these patterns and thought I'd bump this up. I may wind up trying to recreate something similar. The draw a picture idea is probably a good place to start. If I can do something that other people might understand, I will try to post the drawing and see if it jogs any memories.

Since you said long crochet stitch, that made me think maybe it was afghan stitch. Was it something like this?

I believe what she is referring to is when you take a sc into a row below. Sometimes several rows. OP, please tell me if I'm on the right track.
