Fast and Easy Light & Lacy Afghan -crochet

I had some leftover yarn and noticed this pattern on the wrapper. It is great and so fast and easy.

I'm using a size N metal hook (9.0MM)

Light & Lacy Afghan

Instructions on Mainstay 4-ply Worsted Weight Yarn

5 oz Machine washable and dryable

Measurements:

Approx. 49.5in. x 66in./126cm. x 168cm.

Materials: , 31oz. any color.

Crochet Hook Size J-10 (6mm.) or size needed to obtain the gauge.

Gauge:

In pat: One rep of 10 sts = 3in.; 6 rows = 3in.

Instructions:

Ch 167.

Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook and next 3

ch, * ch 2, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, dc

in next 5 ch; rep from * across; turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc,

dc in next 4 dc, * ch 3, slst in SC, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc; rep from * across, working last dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 5 dc, * ch 5, sc in next 5 dc; rep from * across,

working last sc in top of ch-3; turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, skip first SC, dc in next 4 sc, * ch 2, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 2, dc in next 5 sc; rep

from * across; turn. ..

Rep Rows 2-4 for pat until approx. 66in. from beg, end Row 2.

Fasten off.

Fringe: Knot two 12in. strands in each dc across top and bottom edges; trim.

ABBREVIATIONS: beg = beginning; ch = chain; dc = double

.-crochet; mm = millimeters; rep = repeat;

Leslie, I just finished it today and here is a photo. sorry it is so dark. I'm going to start on another with ombre yarn. It was easy to do.

Somewhere I have this same pattern. It was like one of the first skeins of yarn I bought and I liked the look of the afghan but at the time it seemed too hard.

Maybe I could try it again now that I have more experience. I really do want something new to throw on the back of the couch.

I think I have 14 sets of the 5 double crochets which make up the down rows. And it isn't quite the length of the pattern. I didn't want to buy another skein just to get another set of rows.
I used three of those skeins I mentioned. So it cost 3X $1.88 since I already had the hook!! I have to make a correction. the skeins were 8 oz.

Wow...how long did that take you? It would probably be a bit longer for me since I'm still learning and I have two kids that interupt me often! LOL

I like the green you used..pretty nice, too. I think I'm going to try mine in the cream or tanish color first though. If I like the look and it is as easy as you say, I may do more. Something about a solid colored blanket with a pretty pattern.

I first posted about it on Dec 3rd so I guess that is how long it took. Mind you, I only crochet late at night. My Mom, bless her heart, used to do her "three rows a day".
This pattern in nice because you lways know where you are .

You mentioned 2 crochet hooks in tje description. J And N, which one did you use for the afghan?

I've made at least a dozen of these in all colors, striped, etc... very easy. If you understand single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch and chains you can do it!

Pattern calls for J hook. Using a different hook changes it.

Does anyone have the original instructions from the wrapper, or a link to it, or even just the brand of yarn? I’m trying to follow the OP’s instructions but have some questions.

Also, do yo think this would work well with bulky yarn? Super bulky? If so, what size hook?

This was the first pattern i was ever able to read and do on my own without help.

It was super easy to follow and i just love the pattern. I am currently making one again.
