You will find a big assortment and at a high end price. Some of them are comparable with the name brands found at Walmart.But I usually find those same brands for less at WM.

I love Michaels. They have a great variety of yarn and something is always on sale. Just yesteday they had Lion Brand Fun Fur for only $2.99. Just keep your eye out for bargains and you'll be very happyl =^..^=

Watch for the weekly coupon in your Sunday paper--I often just cut it out and keep it in my purse. Then if I am in the area, I stop in and buy one expensive, for me, skein of yarn at the 40% off--or a pattern book or needles or hooks. Eventually I have enough for the project I am planning.

They have lots of interesting yarn but not a great deal of basic "plain" yarn. They do not have a lot of sizes of dp needles but have a good selection of regular ones. Only buy yarn on sale as it is often 30 to 50% off and the sales rotate through the different kinds of yarn. For the good basic yarns (wool or wool blends in plain colors or heathers) I prefer my local yarn shop. But Michaels is still another resource and fun to visit.

Boy, if we were getting a Michael's here I would be jumping for joy. Our closest Michael's is 250 miles away. We have no yarn stores in our town either, or a Walmart or anything like that. I have never been in a yarn store yet. I've been meaning to look one up in our biggest city here, the one that is 250 miles away, but since I'm not familiar with the city and streets, I haven't found it yet. I go to Michael's while I'm there and also Walmart and all the other big ones. We make a trip over there about once every 3 months. We do have a small store in here our town which carries basically Red Heart Yarn and that's it. I order all of my yarn off the internet or else have a list ready for when we travel to the city. We just got back from there so I have a few bags of yarn stocked up to keep me busy till we go back in March. I think you're lucky to be getting a Michael's. Wish it was our town that was getting one. I think you will be pleased.

We have had a Michaels near here for a year now and they do have good sales on specialty yarns. The coupons are for regularly priced items only. I am not into the fancy stuff so I go to Walmart and they have a whole wall in the crafts devoted to yarn. I am starting to get into using patterns calling for thread and they carry that also. None of the stores carry enough crochet booklets or pamphlets mostly knitting. I have gotten a lot for crochet off the internet.
