Layout Feedback Needed...Version ? (alot)

First, thank you for the input along the many iteration it is really paying off. Below is the current version that I am asking for feedback on.as a reminder, we are a family of 4 (2 small children), love to cook, hang out in the kitchen, and like large island and windows. The outside walls are not moveable, but windows are. The inside dining room wall is also not moveable.
We will have a 48" range, 48" built-in fridge, microwave drawer, warming drawer, UC wine fridge, coffee maker, prep sink (33 in Kohler Stages), cleanup sink, DW drawers.
Thanks for the honest input on this layout so far .

The fridge seems a long way around the island from the prep space. Maybe some fridge drawers in the island for your often needed cold prep items?

Also, your island shows 10 feet and 4 seats. While it is generally assumed 2'/body, your MW will be another 2' and the paper towel holder another 15" maybe? Plus end panels and overhang allowances - you won't really have room for 4 bodies. I'd move the paper towel to the range side of the island - still facing the cleanup area if you think that's best (though I would think facing the range in the actual prep space would be better?).

KathyNY76 - thanks for the feedback.

The fridge seems the hardest item to place. It has lived in multiple locations - to the left of the clean-up sink, to the right of the range, I have even split it in 2 columns at one point with one on one side of cleanup and one on the other, etc.....

Question to the all GW experts - where do I put the fridge?

I can see why this is difficult for you. And it's a big fridge. On one hand it is nice where it is because there is the most space in front of it and easily accessed by the family without them getting in your cooking space. On the other hand, that hike from the prep area would be hard for me. The idea of splitting it up is not bad. You could have some fridge/freezer drawers filled with mostly cooking ingredients (produce, sauces, meats..) in the island and then only use your fridge for things the whole family would be after. Maybe you could get away with a smaller "family fridge" that way.

I agree with moving the paper towel holder to the other side of the island to give more seating space. elbow room will be limited even with 2 feet of space per person. I assume you want the MW on the seating side of the island for other family members to quickly access something from the fridge and use the MW without getting into the cooks way. Maybe if you could have a smaller fridge there would be room for a small counter on the fridge side where you could keep the MW giving even more seating room.

If you're not opposed to putting the cooktop on your island you could put a built in fridge to the left side of where the cooktop is now and move the prep sink to the right of it. In that case you'd want to widen the distance between it and the island to at least 48 inches I think.

    Just a few thoughts.

Thanks Jfay - I agree with you on the paper towel holder - perfect thought. I do want to keep the range on the perimeter and the prep.
