Perhaps you could get that evaporator to operate with the standard remote that came with the unit. Simply disconnect the wired remote and the standard hand held unit should work...if you still have them. There should be plenty of Sanyo equipment still in the distribution chain. Will it go back that far, I have no idea. Do you have any Japanese friends. They could access and read the Sanyo native site and perhaps access the control from Japan.

Jackfre, thank you for your response. These units only came with wired remotes, no handhelds. We have actually found two of the units at different thrift shops, but neither had the attached remotes. We'll keep looking. Thank you.

I also have the exact same unit with a wired handpad that went bad. Did you find a place to source them from? I am having trouble also.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner -- I must have missed your email. No, I haven't found a source. I'll keep looking, but my husband thinks we should replace the units next year. They still work very well, but are getting noisy. What great units though!! Over 25 years old and kept our home cool and comfy during this past horrible hot and humid Illinois summer. If we decide to get rid of our units next year, we keep the wired remotes and sell them.
