Undercabinet lighting help!

I need to chose my undercabinet lighting soon. What types do you have and do you like it? Some get rather hot don't they? I was almost thinking of using the rope lighting. Thoughts? I have recessed all over the kitchen with pendants over my sink and bar area-if it matters.

I have fluorescents and love them. No heat.

I have dimmable xenon light bars from YLighting. Although I've often heard complaints of xenons getting too hot, mine are installed above my cabs, under the cabs, and in the glass door cabs themselves. I don't have a heat problem anywhere! My xenons are not low voltage and are direct wired without a transformer. If you want low voltage xenons, you'll need a transformer and a different model than the one I've linked below.

I just had dimmable LED under cab lights installed.
There is a lot of info about them on the lighting forum. I used the source they recommended and am very happy.

I have American Lighting xenons under one run of cabinets and am happy with them. They don't seem to get too hot. Mine are also hard-wired without a transformer.

I have puck xeon under cab. At first I was upset that
my husband wanted to put these in. I was afraid that
it would not give me enough lighting but they have
been wonderful. And they spotlight which is kind of
cool. They are thin enough that you can not see them
unless you tip your head under my cabs.

I have ambiance lighting by seagull on a dimmer. I love them! They are like the tubes ones described earlier in this thread.

I have puck lights in the basement kitchen. I like them ok but the light is less consistent and they do leave hot spots on the counter.

We have LED strips from Ikea. $100 for the whole kitchen. Quite the bargain, and a nice white light, too. We just needed something low profile as we don't have a huge backsplash. And no heat!

Thanks for your responses. We are getting down to the end game on the build and I think I'm on decision overload:) I guess I won't need a transformer as the electrician wired for undercab lighting. I know some on the lighting forum talked about glare off of the countertop but that also won't be an issue as I'm the one on this forum putting in sandstone with a honed finish. (Thanks again boxerpups:)) What is your spacing on ur pucks? I'm kinda between those, leds and rope. Just need a bit more info on what people think of these. Though at this point I'm almost ready to throw up my hands and tell my builder to pick! HUFF... HUFF... slow deep breathes...

I'm not an expert on lighting, but the way I understand under cab LED lighting, you need a special transformer between the hard wiring and the LED lights. That's if you want then on a dimmable wall switch.

I like to dim them at night for ambiance and have them full strength when cooking. I love to finish cleaning up the kitchen at night and dim the lights. All my lights are on dimmers.

I plan on installing UC lights soon, and my DH is insisting on LED. They won't burn out for 10-15 years and use way less energy so I won't feel guilty about leaving them on all night. they are pretty pricey now but the price is coming down all the time. Two websites that I have been looking at are environmentallights.com and superbrightleds.com

I have undercounter LEDs from Lowe's. Not dimmable, but they're my morning sunshine. About 30 watts or so for each one and no heat. The whole kitchen cost less than $200. If something better comes along in a few years...not a very costly investment.
