Getting ready for bed!

Actually it's 10:30 pm and my dh and I just made a pot of coffee!

I walked into our bedroom and what did I see? A very spoiled dog! She does this every night all on her own, and then I go in to cover her up. Awww.

Notice the "ugly" blue blanket on the bed? I wouldn't trade it in the world during these cold winters. It doesn't match a thing in the room. Decorating be darned! lol

Please share your pics of your extremely spoiled furbabies!

Goodnight Gracie...

Too funny. Every night when DH goes to bed, Zelda follows him in there. She'll lay on my side, and he'll put a throw over her in the winter. He's the large lump on the left.

    From November 7, 2011

When I go in to bed, I have to drag her off, then she'll slowly slide off until she's hanging by her toes then she drags herself out the door. Have to say, tho, in the winter it's nice since she warms up my side of the bed.

I don't have a pic, but my beagle will be sleeping in our bed on her new (faux) lamb wool blanket and matching pillow that I found at Costco yesterday.

Spoiled cuties. Oakley, where and how is the pup you rescued?

If 'my boy' *could* get up on the bed he would, but it's a very high Rice bed. He's supposed to be a herding dog, but one of the cats herds him! ;o)

Our dog Kassi, a cocker-terrier mix we were told, loves to sleep on our king-sized bed, and now that she is between 13 and 14, and slowing down, she happily spends at least a part of the day there after her morning walk and breakfast. She can't jump up on the bed any more (had ACL surgery this year), but happily lets us put her up there.

But she is funny - she can't STAND to be covered up. The kids used to do it sometimes when she was laying with someone, and within a minute, she was up and out from under.

    Great pix,everyone.

Oh, I miss the days when both boys could get up on the bed. Now it is a rare day when my younger boy will jump up. I really think he stays on floor with my older boy out of brotherly love! Both dogs have great sheepskin cover beds that we enhanced with some mattress cone shape stuff from the fabric store. Now getting on our furniture, that is easier and both boys do that. The bed is just too high for my old guy now.

Love the pics of all of the "bedded" dogs! Makes me smile to know that there are other people who treat their pets like family. We just celebrated my younger boy's birthday with candles and gifts last Sat nite:

Birthday boy Chester with his new duck early on his birthday:

Not the birthday boy, his brother. However, whenever we sing the birthday song, Lowell believes it is for his birthday. We play along, no sense in confusing him any further.

    Great thread!

WIP, I didn't know you had two Adorables! We always sing to our pets (cats especially) and they all love it. DH is sad, says we don't know our pets birthdays, since most are rescues/strays. I know Howard's & Zelda's, but out of respect, we don't individually celebrate them all, shoot, we'd be celebrating all year if we did. but they all get Christmas presents.

I'm glad too, that others are as goofy about their furry family members as we are. Right now, I've got a cat on my lap (I'm using the lap top), another on the arm of the chair, and 3 dogs at my feet. Another is happily curled up on the sofa next to DH.

    Cute pics!

For those of you with older dogs have you tried a set of stairs?

I'm loving these pictures and stories. I knew I wasn't the only one who spoils dogs.

Leah, Boone is doing great! Right now he is sleeping on our bed for a little nap. He's got it made in the shade. lol

I love this pictures! I remember reading that you shouldn't sleep with your dog because of dominance issues, but then what's the point of having a dog? Isn't that the best part? :)

Sorry for my typo. Wish this site would upgrade and allow edits!!!!

One disadvantage of sleeping with a dog: Sometimes my DH and previous dog would snore so loud I'd have to go sleep on the couch!

That dog has passed on but I remember I had to lift him up on the bed for a long time because he wouldn't use the stairs we got him.

How about cats? We have a cat who sits on the end of the bed while I'm reading before bedtime. He's waiting for me to turn out the light and lie down. Why? Because as soon as I do he walks up the bed up to my head and wraps himself around it on my pillow. Occasionally my head isn't soft enough and so he feels the need to knead it with all of his claws until it's perfect. Sometimes he's so contented he feels the need to purr loudly in my ear and sometimes I wake up with him snoring in my nose (?). TMI but I do have to get up to go to the bathroom during the night and when I come back the cat has taken over the entire pillow and I'm left with a tiny corner of it. He doesn't do it every night (fortunately) just enough that it's kinda, sorta cute.

Oh, didn't mean to leave out our cats. We have 4 male cats. All are on the bed at various times of the day, and at least 2 during the nite. All of our pets get birthday presents from us, and holiday presents from Santa. We also exchange holiday pet gifts with our friends and family who have pets, come to think of it, I don't have any friends who don't have animals? Wow, never thought about it before, could be why we like one another as much as we do. No worries of getting a bit of pet hair if you stop in for an unannounced visit, we all have pet hair going on in our homes that we have to keep after.

pesky - love that you celebrate too. We don't know our cats' exact birthdays, so we celebrate the month of their coming to us. You should see my cats in the holiday gear from a few years ago. I think I posted the cats, but if you haven't seen them before, I am going to repost them again. Pardon the poor forum etiquette in my repetitive picture posts:

    Louie:

    Oliver:

    Miles:

The only one whose pic hasn't been uploaded to photo hosting site is our "Handsome". He is our grey and white overweight queen. Lovey as all get out, but he has his hissy moments.

Miles found us. He was a stray matted mess who was persistent in coming to our home day after day. We had him neutered, shaved and 3 yrs. later, he's now the most beautiful Norwegian Forrest cat. He follows DH everywhere. He's patterned himself after the dogs. We actually call Miles our 3rd dog, lol. Pardon the fact that he is laying on a box of donuts. I don't condone that behavior, but couldn't help myself. I tried relentlessly to get him off of that box. I squirted him repeatedly with our at the ready water bottle to get him off of the FULL box of donuts. I finally gave up on serving the donuts and took his pic.

Oakley - wonderful that Boone has become a loving member of your family. Lucky dog!

I am in love with all animals, save the amphibious or snakes. It isn't that I don't like them as much as I have phobias about interacting with animals that don't have hair/fur, lol.

    Happy Holidays!

Nancy, I got stairs for Hanna, but she refuses to use them. Artie did for a couple weeks before he passed.

Work, Norwegian Forest cats are similar in behavior to Maine Coons. I think that's why dh loved Artie so much. Miles is very handsome!

This is Oscar, my two-year old French Bulldog.

It's always been a rule with DH that the dogs don't get on the bed. I used to let my old Boxer up on the bed with me when DH wasn't around. He knew the deal and snuck up there when we weren't home. We always laughed when we heard the "thump thump" when we came home and he jumped off the bed.

Enter the Frogdog...Every night we go up to bed fairly early and Oscar snuggles up with DH while we watch a little TV. Eventually he goes in his crate for the night, but it is funny how fast this little guy changed DH's mind about dogs on the bed.

He really likes it when I get out of bed for minute.....

Olive is our almost 14-year-old Maine Coon Cat. She's been an outdoor cat in our coyote and hawk ridden yard the whole time. She is kind of mean. We all love her to death. :) I've noticed this Winter she is spending a lot more time on DS's bed, which makes me feel a lot better for her safety. She hates Oscar's guts and would like it if he disappeared.

Well, so much for those perfectly decorated bedrooms! lol. I make the beds every day and by noon they're rumpled with pillows stewn everywhere.

Blf, last night my Lizzie started kneeding my back when I was going to sleep. Nothing feels better!

WIP, seeing Louie makes me sad. Only because Tuxedo cats are my favorites and I lost my two Tuxedos within the past year. They're not easy cats to find either.

    These pictures are so nice!

Love the pup on the heating pad!

My little pup sleeps with us, but she does not get "in" the bed. Her favorite spot is down at my feet - she faces "out" (looking toward the door), I guess to guard us. Often when I turn on my side facing out - she curls up behind my knees. Funny thing is when we are not there - she does not get on our bed - she goes to her little bed in the adjoining bathroom. That used to be "her" room and I used a baby gate when we were at work. One day she decided she was not going in! I would be fine with her staying out on our bed but think it's funny that she goes back to "her" room.

I guess we should all be thankful for them allowing us to sleep with them. ;o)

Oh they are all sooo cute! That baby Oscar is ADORABLE!! Love the story about Olive hating Oscar's guts. I've got a cat who feels the same way about our dogs.

Oak, I am a total Tuxie fan...we've got four!! Norman Diva is my favorite, he kneads me every night. My Himilayan Butros is also a kneader, just not a cuddler. I think there is nothing better than a cat kneading my head and purring in my ear.

Good to hear Boone is doing great! I was worried he'd wandered off before he'd adjusted to his wonderful new home.
