I dont have an anwser for you about the look a like travertine tile, I think when you try to match something it has to be dead on otherwise it looks like a mistake. Why dont you go with the same tile as you have on the shower floor and perhaps put some of the same tile somewhere else in the bathroom so it ties into the shower.

I had travertine installed above my tub to the ceiling in my hall bath with no problems, it's been about a year now since completion and it's still on the walls. I say go for it on your shower walls, you won't be sorry!

I responded over in the bathroom forum of extending your ceramic tile around your room including your shower. But wanted to mention that if your husband is concerned about the porosity of travertine there are some new sealers on the market that are truly wonderful. You can have the travertine that you are using on the floor cut down to whatever size you would liek for the shower walls. How thick is the travertine that you would like to use on the shower walls?
