Bathroom Pendandt Light?

Is it advisable to install a pendant light in a bathroom? I am thinking of installing a bright pendant light from the ceiling of my bathroom - above the sink and above the medicine cabinet.

In searching for cool bathroom lights, I notice that none of them ever hang from the ceiling. Is there a reason for this? Would it corrode? Will it provide a strange light for using the bathroom mirror? Anyone have any bathroom lighting advice?
