I am in need of some lighting solutions. Here's the problem. I have a 6' wide archway where there will be a eating bar. The ceiling is vaulted....13' high. My original plan was to use 3 small pendant lights there, but I am not sure how pendant lights with 6' cords would look. The lighting store person suggested small recessed lighting directly in the arch. I would have to bore holes in the wood arch and header to accommodate the lights, which I could do if it would be safe. The header and arch are only 3.5" wide and solid wood. Can mini recessed lighting have direct contact with wood? Any suggestions for me? thanks.
