curtain lining

Matching up an inexpensive but rich looking fabric with a lining that is as thick as you might want can be an expensive proposition.

I actually like the fabric in many of the inexpensive ready made drapes that are available today. I just don't like the skimpy look once they're mounted. More insulation would be welcome, too.

At this time I don't really want to hang a separate, second rod and treatment behind the thin ones. I'd just like to get the look of a single, but beefier, drape.

Have you ever hung a separate liner behind thinner drapes?
For example, could I just clip in a big rectangle of liner to the same clip rings that the thin panels hang with? Or would you think I'd have to glue a velco strip to the panels and the liner and attach that way (less worth the money and time, I'd think)

Is this a crazy idea I should discard?
