Finished Kitchen!

I found this site just before we started our remodel and have lurked constantly since then. The information here was so helpful in making finish decisions and dealing with contractors - especially when we had to have our installed granite completely replaced because of a series of fabrication errors!

Our kitchen remodel was pretty modest and kept the same footprint/layout but replaced the 17 year old crappy thermofoil cabinets and pink corian.

Countertops: Volga Blue

Cabinets: Decora, Galleria door, natural cherry w/ bronze glaze

Faucet: Kohler Vinnata in Stainless

Knobs: Top Knobs

Range: Capital 30"

Dishwasher and Refrigerator: Kitchen Aid

Range Hood: Capital 600cfm (got it for $600 when we bought the range)

Backsplash: Sonoma La Casa subways, Sonoma Dolce Vita rhomboids behind range

Lighting: Thomasville island light

Counter stools/chairs: Locally Amish-made of reclaimed maple

Paint: BM Rich Cream, trim and ceiling BM Simply White

Here are a few photos. Thank you sincerely for all of your indirect help!

Wow, what a transformation! I love your cabinets, they're gorgeous. And that granite, too. Nice job, I bet you are thrilled.

    Have fun in it,

Love it! Everything looks so polished! I love the cream walls with your cabinets, and as someone who can't wait to get rid of her sofits, I love the staggered cabinets.

I think it came out awesome! Your feature behind the stove looks tremendous ;) Your cab dimensions and detailing are nice as well.

Oh wow, that is beautiful! I love your cabinets and the way you staggered them by the range--really makes a nice statement!

Love Volga Blue; it looks great in your kitchen, too.

It is all so warm and inviting. Really a wonderful job--congrats!

P.S. What is in that horizontal cabinet above your toaster oven? Is it your microwave? Does the door stay up when you open it or does it slide in above? Can we have a little peek?

Is your island bigger now? It looks much bigger and more functional. The whole kitchen looks so warm and inviting -- the creamy paint, warm cherry cabinets and the new lighting just really work. And I adore your range!!

    Hi Lizzard2you
That is quite a change from your old kitchen. I had the white thermafoil cabinets with like a beige laminate too. I was glad to see mine go. I think your choices are really nice. Like the cabinet color with the granite. It looks very up to date and a warm kitchen to be in.

Beautiful! We have blue pearl, so I love blue granite! It really goes well with the cabinets.

Oooh, it looks fabulous! In addition to everything else I really love the honey tones in your new floor tiles, and the way you've coordinated the wall color and backsplash with it. Great kitchen!

    Very warm, cozy and inviting!

Very nicely done for a small space! I really like the trim detail you added to the island's end panels. Was this just molding you had added or were they made that way? Either way, I added that idea to my inspiration file - thanks! Love the stools, too.

    It's beautiful, and very warm!

What a difference. Your new kitchen is so warm and the granite is beautiful. A bold choice (I think) that really adds a punch to the kitchen.

Very nice, and .....Oooh, I LOVE your Amish stools! Do you think they would ship them? Would you mind sharing contact information?

I love your transformation! It's so warm and inviting now. Beautiful counter tops and I love those stools! Enjoy it!

Thank you for all of your kind comments! I was hesitant to post because the kitchen is small and not white.

Shelayne - Yes, the cab houses the mic...got the idea from the forum! Here's a pic of it open:

Scootermom: Yes, the island is 15" inches longer, with an added 10" overhang, and turned the opposite way from the original pic. I think the PO's turned it sideways because there were gouges in the wood floor where the end would have rested originally.

Lisa_a: The island molding is just matching trim - the GC suggested it instead of fake doors and it saved a ton of money!

Stacyneil: The stools came from the Amish Market in Shrewsbury, PA. The URL for the specific store is http://www.penndutchfurniturestore.com/Showroom.htm and they do offer shipping!

    lizzard,

Beautifully done! I, too, love your stools and cabinets and micro cubby. What a transformation.

It is SO much cozier. I'll bet you cheered when the hospital fluorescent fixture went in the dumpster!!

Lizzard - your kitchen is just beautiful. I also got Volga Blue recently, don't you just love the pops of vivid blue? Mine change throughout the day with different lighting, so cool!

Enjoy your space, it's quite the transformation!

How proud you must be! Excellent choices. What could they have been thinking with that old layout? I love the new layout! Enjoy!

That looks like a much more inviting space even if it isn't huge and white! ;) It doesn't matter that it's not huge and white, you did a tremendous job. I'm impressed! That appliance area next to the fridge is great. I'm jealous of your Capital range! I'm now considering their new rangetop. Enjoy.

Don't ya just miss that pink Corian??! :)
