You're probably not going to have much luck finding a fan that can do a decent job of lighting a whole room unless that room is exceedingly small. I looked up a parts drawing for the second fan you linked to, and it appears set up for two 60-watt incandescent bulbs. That won't be much light, considering that a lot of it will never make it out of the fixture. Think of the fan as a supplementary, rather than primary, illumination source, and explore alternate ways to light the room.

Thanks for the advice. That is what I thought I was going to have to do.... I at least want to see my options in a ceiling fan...

I have the same problem only the fan is already installed and I have to live with it. So, what can I do to get better light output? The fan has a 22 watt circline bulb. Do they make circline bulbs with higher output or better color rendition? If so, where can I find them?

I was also trying to find a ceiling fan with better light. I was told that there was a new federal law that required all ceiling fans to hold no larger than 60 watt light bulbs (even with 4 bulbs, it is not that bright) or only use influorscent (sp.?). My friend refers to these as the Al Gore lighting fixtures.

I just replaced old ceiling fan light fixtures with new ones. One takes 4 - 60 watt candelabra bulbs; the other, 5 - 40 watt candelabra bulbs.

I used Bulbrite xenon bulbs (see link below - also other manufacturers) and now I have tons of light - much better than before with fewer bulbs.

Their 60 watt xenon is rated for 960 lumens while a standard size 60 watt has about 850 lumens. By switching to the candelabra size, more bulbs fit in the space available for the light kit. So by replacing a 2 60-watt standard bulb fixture with a 4 60-watt candelabra bulb fixture, I went from 1700 lumens (850*2) to 3840 lumens (960*4).

Fixture brands I found with more than 2 bulbs are Craftmade and Quorum International. I'm sure there are others, as well.
