Interior walls can serve two structural purposes.

1. They can be supporting a structural member above, such as a beam. (probably not likely, based on your photo.)

2. They can serve as a shear wall, that is a wall that keeps your exterior walls square and vertical by counteracting the forces of the roof that may be trying to push an exterior wall outward, or that of the wind which may be trying to push the exterior wall wall inward.

So by looking at your photo, I think the best anyone could say is yes, maybe. An hour of inspection by a structural engineer may be money well spent.
