Texturing Walls

Well, after 6 years, DH has finally decided to do some major redecorating projects.

More like a remodel, but...

Anyway, we're replacing carpet with laminate through the large, open area in our home. We're also putting texture on the walls in the den. I'm excited, because we'll be pulling down the sticks (UGH - Sticks SCREAM Mobile Home!).

The texturing will hide the seams. Then we're painting those walls, and painting over the wainscoting, too!

Next, the kitchen. We're going to paint the cabinets, cover the glass inserts with thin wood (can't think of the name right off), paint the walls, and cover the Formica counter tops with ceramic tile. I'm going to paint the existing cabinet hardware.

We're replacing the sink, and the back splash, as well!! The flooring is currently vinyl, but we're putting in laminate there, too! We have an island that houses the stove, and I'm anxious to tile the island!!

Last (for now), will be our dining room, which actually connects our den and kitchen. We're just planning to paint in there.

Anyway - I'm uber excited, and just had to share. I'd just recently found this forum, and have been inspired by many of the posts here.

I'm new also. Sounds wonderful and it will be so fun to watch the transformation.

I do not currently love in a MH, but have in the past.

Have you started yet?
I took off my vinyl wallpaper and "sticks" and taped/mudded and painted. I was going to do texture but was getting tired of messing with them and wanted to get done. Is he renting a texture sprayer or using the canned stuff? I didn't think I had the strengh to do the sprayer since I have a bum arm. Next I'll get rid of the "sticks" in the bathrooms.

Congratulations!!
We are becoming "stick free" this year also.
I am taping and sanding the area where the sticks were,
then kilz painting the plastic wallpaper. It works great,
you do not have to remove the wallpaper. I found a bucket
of "sand finish" at Home Depot for $22.00 and roll it with
a regular paint roller on to the walls. It takes a few
minutes to get it like I like it, but it looks great.
Then we chose our latex paint and in 1 coat, WOW!
Our home is looking fantastic. It is some slow work, I have
to say, but sooooo worth it. You will not be sorry.

I have to chime in here too and reiterate, no, you will not be sorry. We totally transformed our home in a few short years and it is sooo worth it. We pulled down the sticks and DH taped and textured every room in our 2000 square ft MH. Then we painted every room too. Mind you, these were weekend projects during the winter so it took a while, but the transformation is astounding.

Hello- n2cookin- just wondering if you would share your method for texturing the walls in your MFH. We're looking into it- and don't know where to start- there's so many opinions on whether or not its possible.
