Knobs at great prices

I found this vendor on Ebay and purchased a bunch of different knobs to see which worked best. I ordered a few satin nickle, a few black matte, and an ORB.

They are of fantastic quality and so inexpensive you'll think there's got to be a catch.

When I asked if they had 55 of the one we picked, the Ebay vendor sent me to his website where I got an even deeper discount for ordering 25+ (1.85 each), plus a 5% off coupon. Shipping is always 5.99 on the entire order.

The knobs we're replacing have backplates. If you ever shopped for them you know that they can be pricey. Since they made a permanent mark on the cabinet, we have to go with them again, however we are simply going to spray the existing backplates (Rustoleum Metallic in ORB - specifically for painting metal and other surfaces)and we should be good to go.

I hope you find this info helpful.

cookingrvc, thanks for the great link! I love the ORB knobs and now that I have put a mini-wax on my cabinets (unfortunately I used a matching honey stain for my oak cabinets when I wanted dark cherry but the laminate cabinets only took the mini-wax stain on worn areas and added shine... I would have to sand down the cabinets to go darker and I was scared they would fall apart)and they are looking much better, I am thinking of adding the knobs.

What color are your hinges or do you have no hinges?

What color are your cabinets? Please post pics when you are done.

    cookingrvc-
You've perfectly illustrated my point of view that quality knobs don't require a second mortgage. Manufacturers often charge ridiculous amounts for knobs because, well, they can get away with it, and people don't have a good point of reference to judge that they aren't worth the high prices, because there are so many high prices. Great find! Good luck.

Lynn2006: My cabinets are a soft white with no visible hinges. I'd be happy to post pics when we're done.

Kudzu9: Exactly. For instance, there is a popular internet knobs-for-less showroom close to where I live and I was amazed at the cost of the knobs, never mind the freaking backplates.

These knobs are of the same quality or better than what I found there and at a fraction of the price.

It remains to be seen how well the backplates do over time with the paint, but I do have a Plan B should that not work out - and it involves plumbing washers (I can be very creative when motivated!).

I just wanted to add that I wouldn't compromise the look of my kitchen with something that looked cheap. I tested the washer scenario and unless you put your nose right up to the cabinet you wouldn't notice that I used them in place of backplates - they reflect the color of the knob so even a stainless washer looks like ORB.

In a blinding-glimpse-of-the-obvious moment it occurred to me to paint the original backplates which of course is my #1 choice...so we'll see how that works out.

Thank you for the link! Would you please post or email me the ebay vendor's name also?

I'm changing out nickel pulls/knobs for ORB and didn't realize how quickly it would add up. Always happy to save a little $$!

    Thank you!
